@Minstrel Bear ; Religious faith isn't about action. It's the lack of action. It the suspension of reason which is failure to use the mind. Faith is intellectual bankruptcy.
Actually (as James 2:17 says) faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. If you were to say to someone I love you but then proceed to ignore them, don't do anything they ask you to do and instead do things they ask you not to do; then is that real love? If someone says they love and have faith in the Lord but then proceed to ignore Him, disobey His commands and willingly go and break His commandments; is that true faith?
Say you were on a plane that was going down, and you knew where the parachutes were, would you be happy to quietly go and get one for yourself and simply let everyone else die? Of course not! Im sure youd tell as many people as you could, regardless of whether they believed you or not. God calls us to love, serve and obey Him; to comfort and love others as Christ loves us and to share our faith with others. Faith and action you cant have one without the other.
Its not a case of showing how much faith you have but I can see what youre trying to get at. The thing is, no one can live up to Gods standards (ie always follow all His commands and never break any commandments). As Romans 3:24 says for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. There is a massive gap between us and God and no number of good works will get us across that gap. But God reached down and bridged that gap; and that bridge is Jesus.
But just being a Christian doesnt suddenly make someone perfect (take a look at King David and Bathsheba for instance or even Jonah (and the consequences of his disobedience)). Following Christ is a continuous and ongoing process; God chiselling away at and refining us (like a silversmith refining silver). So likewise, without faith, the action doesnt mean much.
LOL .... Really almost fell off my chair !!! So typical.
You brag about your faith and how you obey the words of Jesus then make excuses for not keeping his words with excuses. You are a HYPOCRITE my friend. Let's face it. A HYPOCRITE! And you are full of it ....
Rom 3:23 "For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Everyone sins; even followers of Christ.
Jn 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Jesus is the only way to God; He bridges the gap.
Eph 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godnot by works, so that no one can boast." No number of good works will save us; it's by God's grace alone
John 14: 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." In order to grow in our relationship with Him, we need to follow His word and command put our faith into action. (If you dont water and prune a plant, chances are, it will die).
1 Jn 2:1 "My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defence-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One." Acts 3:19 "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." Even though we should be turning from sin, we are still prone to it; but if we repent and turn to God, that sin will be wiped out.
So what, exactly, do you think I've been lying about?
Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you. (Matthew 5:42) Give to everyone who begs from you; and when someone takes your things, don't ask for them back. (Luke 6:30)
If you love me, you will keep my commandments (John 14:15)
You don't love your Jesus dude. You just talk a good game & are good at quoting scripture. Jesus isn't impressed and neither am I. You're not a real Christian.
Oh, I see now what you're actually trying to get at; although I don't think you fully understand the scripture you're quoting. If I were to explain it to you (to your satisfaction), would that be of any worth to you?
MB; It has already been explained to you by your leader, Jesus: ''''' If you love me, you will keep my commandments'''' (John 14:15) You are not doing that. You are just making the usual excuses and cop outs. You're not one of his disciple nor are you a real Christian. Take a hike pal. You're a phony.
But if you ever have any questions, or would like to know more about God (or even about what Mark 5:42 and Luke 6:30 actually mean) then I'd encourage you to look into it and ask a Christian about it.
@MinstrelBear ;;; Dude, been there done that, been a Xtian for many years only to realize years later it was just a farce all along. I was scammed just like you are right now. Jesus isn't even there, he doesn't love you and he is not coming back to planet earth. Come up to reality.

Jesus has another explanation for those who don't keep his commandments: '''''Depart from me I never knew you''''
But that's a contradiction anyway.

Faith in action? Think back to 911 when terrorists crashed planes into the WTC out of faith in their God Allah. Now that was faith in action.
nogogma 2 years ago
Yes, it was a very tragic example of faith (albeit misguided faith) in action.
But that isn't what the Lord calls us to do (quite the opposite, in fact).

You are correct. That's why you should show just how much faith you have by obeying every word and commandment of Jesus:
''''Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.''''' (Matthew 5:42)
Are you obeying what he says in this passage? This is only just one. There are more.

Youre a liar. You are not even a true Christian. You can't even obey the words of Jesus. Liar.
