  • Nice video. Made me want to camp. Thanks.

  • Dude the sound of the rain is making me sleepy.

  • a good woodsman can build a fire any time!

  • ha bears are a big black pig they eat anything

  • ... and in my left breast pocket ... the kitchen sink. Are you preparing to survive the impending zombie apocalypse or just believe in being way, and I mean way, over prepared? After a lifetime in the field in some pretty nasty terrain/environments I would suggest sticking to the all important rule: Keep It Simple Stupid. I would venture a guess that in the area you filmed this video that all you really need to 'bug-out' or survive is a trusty pocket knife and some common sense!

  • Can't believe some putz gave a smarmy comment about arming the bear...anyway, I'm retired law enforcement and also carry a 357 as a last resort in case my bear mace doesn't do the job. You mentioned 'Bear Loads'. Was that a figure of speech or an actual round?

  • if you did a quick gathering operation for some dry tinder, and a handfull of rich pine sticks, i think you could have started and kept a small fire going for the morning. ive been experimenting on fire for a few months now and thats IMO. good vid.

  • Awesome video man. Thanks for sharing.

  • This is awesome dude. thanks for sharing!

  • Did you rig the tarp that far off the ground intentionally? I mean so you could see out to keep an eye out for animals or was ther ejust to much stuff to lower it? Just asking cause i see other videos with ponchos touching the ground in rainy conditions and wondering if your set up was intentional? Also I have tried the same A frame style set up in a rainy condition and the rain runs down the line and into my tarp how do you prevent this?

  • @1969jmac ....i had never done it before and i was winging it.....worked ok, wasn't too far off the ground; gave me a little head room and wasnt as claustrophobic

  • hey you did good one thing that keep bears away from camp is to keep it clean dont hag food near your camp hag it 5 - 10 yards from your camp every now and then make noise let them know you are around great job on your camp ps make sure you recon

  • nice use of the poncho, i cant get away with that in florida.

  • @sifupintado Can't get away with that in Florida because? The rain, crocodiles, creepy crawly critters or, and I hope this is not the case, because of the rain?

  • @eulersghost the rain i dont care about but you got everything else correct sir and those creepy crawlys are a first class bitch! so i stay off the ground its the best way for me but i still like your poncho use peace.

  • You carry a gun in case of bears? If you exercise your right to bear arms maybe someone, just to be fair, should arm bears.

  • @asimov13647 .....yes, yes.....they come naturally armed with big nasty claws and rather powerful jaws......

  • @asimov13647 wow are you serious? no person in there right mind would go into bear country without a weapon.

  • @Murr2Six Why? I've spent plenty of time in bear country with just a 4" blade and I've never had any issues let alone any encounters other than far off observations but, that's also because I don't pack bear friendly food.

  • @asimov13647 you're going to get eaten by a bear.

  • @asimov13647 The whole reason to prepare for encounters with bears is because of the unfair advantage they naturally have dude. They WILL outrun us in short distances, they outweigh us by 2~4:1, they have five 3~4 inch claws on all fours, and one well places bite and you're their meal. I'm all for bear spray though, with a firearm in the other hand.

  • @asimov13647, i think you should arm the world against yourself. You can do this by jumping in front of a fast moving train.

  • nice, well planned but simple, probably the fire idea would have been bad anyways, obviously when you mentioned the moss, under canopy dry moss caught flame, the wet moss outside no. lol I bet it was chilly.

  • @oregonnich ...yeah, probably would have to be pretty careful with a fire around there when it's not raining....but there sure is plenty of tinder...

  • i now pack a large tarp when camping with the dogs and it started pouring man was it crowded

  • Dude! So much for bugging out in the SPRING! LOL! Good job!
