  • These videos were made before UFC 1. It's amazing to see that nobody knew at the time, that "kid" that Rorion was demonstrating the techniques on, would grow up to become a legend in the Martial Arts world: Royce Gracie.

  • ugh, ya know, i didn't wanna learn gjj, because if two guys wanna kick your ass, you're fucked. But jeez, one on one, it really just seems like there's no contest if you know gjj (or worse yet, if the other guy knows gjj and you don't XO). Im gonna need lessons.

  • The instructor has the same accent as Gus Frank in AMC's Breaking Bad

  • I wish all BJJ instructors were like the Gracies :)

  • Thank God for the Gracie family.

  • his accent makes this even more fun to watch; "and lean de weight..."

  • Great instructor, great video, so easy to follow!

  • brazilian jiu jitsu is the best fighting system ever.

far superior than the rest (aikido , karate , wing chun , judo)

  • @BluePittbull666 Like, no? They all have their pro's and con's... The best fighters have in all of them skills, like in aikido, you have no attacks, only defenses, but in a combination with karate, it is much better... And Judo is evolved from aikido, and wing chun is something way different, that's kung fu... And than you still have capouera(or something) wich takes way to long to be effective imo.

  • @hersenbeuker Judo is in no way evolved from Akido, but Aikido is evolved from Aikijutsu. But certain idealogies of Aikido are founded on Judo due to the close relationship between Ubeshi and Kano.

  • @BluePittbull666 What about Muay Thai ?

  • the greatest invention in mma

  • emyr (shark) bussad seid to never jump up beacouse the guy on the botttum can escape im from ATT wellington

  • The first arm lock is great, the armbar is a little out of date and is too easy to avoid with curent techniques, if you have a litle experience and there are more efective ways to do it.

The escape from the choke is great!

  • thank you

  • Yes he's a very good instructor. Very detailed, good repetitions & correct slow-show. He shows what to do and what not to do. He doesn't try to impress you or to be funny. Nor does he poses himself as an "alfa-male". You can tell he has been teaching this sh!t for years and clearly he's a professional expert. I watched all of his videos and he turned me from noob to "a competitor" in only a few hours.

    * note: I didn't find a correct word for "competitor", but u know what i mean ;-)

  • @tomdewilde1

yeah man, same here... he's great because he is master rorion...

  • i remember when i just pulled the arm towards me in the armbar xD just pulling with all my force but it did'nt work lol. no armbar just an arm

  • i don not take mma classes i learn by video.. lol

  • simples e objetivo.

é a superioridade do jiujitsu brasil.

  • @YoungCuzzC4L thakx, dats excatly what i did, my dad gave me dat idea which i am doing, but all i need is to get use to it and since i noticed that i started running every since i have the chance to.. but i just cant stop eating too much rice, is it because i am asian?

  • thanks this helped me alot

  • I am not sure if the Gracies knew then that you have to cross your feet when going for an armbar from mount, and when doing the key lock from mount you need to have control of the hips bye either grape vining around the legs. I remember them teaching us to stick our selves in a triangle to escape the closed guard.

  • I heard BJJ really origanated when Carlos Gracie wanted to try something new and kinky in the bedroom and his wife said no

  • @mrbriansykes35 that shit was wack. try again.

  • And then he punches you in the rib cage with the free hand?

  • @maldonadopcr Would you rather worry about inflicting damage on the rib? or stop your arm from being completely broken?

  • @maldonadopcr

nope. not enough power and your shoulder will DEFINITELY get torn if you do that...best to surrender and hope they let go otherwise you are in BIG trouble.

  • yo, like today was my second day time in BJJ and it is hard and i feel i have less energy when i scrabble with my classmate and i almost passed out every 3 minutes, wat should do to increase my energy??

  • @XxPinoyBroxX Proper diet and cardio, had the exact same problem while i was in Karate, learned from my mistakens and when i took BJJ never had the issue again.

  • @XxPinoyBroxX

    running...it works.

and dont forget, just doing bjj will eventually increase your energy.

....you will get used to it in time...trust me.

  • the last move wont work if the person have their feet down or in a judo pin kata something but still goood to know

  • The technic have changed a littlebit since then.

  • @civicturbolive Ha ha. Yes they sure have. But its still good to know that fundamentals of these techniques havent changed much. These videos are pretty old i think filmed in 1993 or 1994. Its great that BJJ has evolved so rapidly since then

  • most martial arts try to teach respect and discipline, jiu-jitsu just teaches you how to fuck people up. lol

  • @civicturbolive So are you saying that these techniques are not very effective ? I was planning on practicing these moves.....

  • @cayne1989 yeah

  • awesome vids m8 , i reallywanna do bjj .but the only class teaching it around my area are a load of giants haha i wouldnt feel at all comfortable .anyways thx again 4 the gr8 vids

  • @Shamoanlightbringer

download "gracie combatives" from tthe official gracie website....or torrent sites.

it is just like being there with the gracies teaching you...you just need a friend to learn together with and some free space with mats...

you can achieve a blue belt from completing this course...the gracies will send you a certificate and your belt for free.

seriously, check it out...you WONT regret it if you are serious about BJJ.

  • grow up

  • @kers1ecm

did you use "fuck" enough times? go be immature somewhere else

  • @peltiersupporter its the internet ppl can comment whatever they want so fuck off you looooooser...

  • @kers1ecm Ha Ha you got upset

  • come'on its the internet me get mad over a few typed words never that...

am planning on starting gjj classes nd this is helpful specially coming from legends such as Royce and Roroin gracie

    you rock dude

  • if your sitting up fighting for the armbar just reach under his head and grab your shin.squeeze and hes out FAST

  • lol at 2:55 it sounded like he was braking his arm lol

  • This is li a revelation to me, i"ll learn it!
