I installed windows 8 on a Mininote 2133, it ran like crap with xp, it took 5 minutes just to open an explorer window, but it does it instantly under windows 8, the only issue is Internet Explorer 9's gpu acceleration disagreed with the Chrome 9 drivers so I had to install firefox, but apart from that it's great

It looks like crap. That first menu that pops up which looks like a smartphone or a ablet its annoying in a pc without touchscreen, and the desktop style is the same as windows 7 which in my opinion looked awful. Windows needs a new design team.

Did you install the Intel graphics driver or are you using the generic microsoft drivers?

@GuppyMN When I shot this video I was still using the generic drivers. If you go to my website (Liliputing) you can find information about how to download the Win7 drivers for netbooks with GMA 950 graphics which helped quite a bit.

I just got done installing this on my Dell Mini 10v (very similar netbook to yours). The 800x600 resolution was killing me, so I googled it and happened upon your post about windows 7 drivers working. Sure enough now my resolution is 1024x600. So far I think Windows needs to give the option of completely sticking to the "classic" style desktop. Kinda annoying booting to the new touch oriented one.

@TheReignHavoc Except for the videocard everything is working OOB. The Windows 7 GMA driver from the intel homepage is working well though on Windows 8. You can also enable DownScalingSupport in the registry to allow resolutions like 1024x768 to make Metro style apps work. I'm using my 1000H/WinXP like this since yesterday and it works fine.

@sztupy VGA out does work too. The only major problem is when you use a "Live ID account" most of the metro apps will crash, but that's not eee1000H related. That's realted to the fact that this DP is still an early beta

That thing is hideous. It looks like it was designed by a brochure advertising firm. There is no logic to how everything is laid out, the colors are by Crayola and the sizes of the boxes look like its aiming at attracting the eyes if my grandad. WTF? They would have to pay ME to use that isht.

@LanteanStargater I have a 1015PX and I have a problem installing the Utilities. Not all my hotkey functions are working. I tried installing hotkeyfunction setup in XP mode and I guess it requires ACPI driver which constantly pops up even when on closing the window.

Great problem, I dont find a way to switch ON my wifi :(

The hotkey function doesnt work. No hardware switch to turn it on.
