A good alternative with the first and second chords (C transposed to 3rd fret, and C chord) is to pick the 2th string (B string) once then to pick the 3rd string (G string) for the rest of the measure for each chord.
Having played that song SO many times (thank you Cougarman for the tutorial!), it sounds more like the original song I think.
great video! I just discovered you're back to you tube! Thanks for the how-to vids, they are so helpful :) especially the iron&wine and sufjan songs...
play the song as softly as you can at first, using the back of your middle finger fingernail to sorta hammer/strum down the d g b strings, plucking the b string on the way back up with the same middle finger. but remember start playing very softly, like whisper. then work your way up to it. thats how i did it, went from f-bomb dropping frustration to almost being able to play the whole thing in about 10 min just from doing it soft at first

dude- do you think anybody with such esoteric tastes doesn't know how to play a guitar? teach hotel california for money at a music store and post your own songs to you tube..
Sweet man, thanks man, you should have seen Iron & Wine at ACL a few years ago. I was on stage with my wife and it was nuts. Of coarse I couldn't go pass the tape on the side of the stage, but it was a blast. Thanks!
did a real good job
