Finally the truth, I bet you never read that in any of your school books. When the Govt tries to run/control the market place you end up with Depression or North korea or Cuba or Obama..wow did I just say that out loud? anyway at least some young ppl know a few things about history that are true. You always do well in you contest, good luck. FDR and Woodrow Wilson and LBJ have been horrible for our country, and now we have Obama I hope we can make it through this nightmare without total collapse
if it hadn't been for FDR, Hitler would be kicking your backsides today. Ronald Reagan voted for FDR not once but three times. A very selective use of data. If you don't like government well how about oligarchy or even fuedalism?
I signed in just to "like" this video. Very well done. The gold confiscation act, tax hikes, and tariff's were an idiotic maneuver. Again, well done sir!
I really enjoyed the video and I am assuming the point of the contest was to understand the essay and make it into a video. I overall agree with the essay but there are somethings I would question. Like the roads and bridges, while not real job growth, were important as it is important to have good infrastructure. Also the different works projects did save peoples lives and were better then the working in the factors that ran the workers into the ground or firing of starvation. Overall I am hap
Nice job. I am actually glad to see a contest for us (teenagers) that isn't encouraging socialism and actually teaches about how capitalism is not to blame for the depression. You are really articulate and seem real in this vid. You obviously have a real understanding of the essay. Good luck.
was this for school or did you just do this for fun? this was seriously really well done, i watched the whole thing and didnt even realize how long it was lol
Libertarians would have been apoplectic (gone ape-sh*t) over FDR's government takeover of U.S. industry following Pearl Harbor, not to mention FDR's land-lease agreement with England prior. Yet, land-lease weaponized Britain in its most desperate hour, buying time, and the anti-libertarian policies led to the closest to full employment this nation has ever seen while orchestrating victory over Germany and Japan. had we listened to Ron Paul libertarian isolationists then, we'd be speaking German.
This is a libertarian perspective, and ignores the broader facts; mainly that one third of all seniors and one-fifth of everyone else were living in dire poverty before FDR's policies. The tax hikes implemented under FDR sustained milllions of families and businesses by supplying WPA jobs when there was no work outside of government projects. These projects were a long-term investment with the dual benefit of putting in place roads, bridges and dams that revolutionized our economy. jus' sayin'
Perhaps the policies of FDR caused economic slowdown but many lives were saved by those make-work jobs. It was not just work that was lacking, it was food as well. My father was in a household of 9 & they had little to eat. The WPA made it possible for them to survive, that and the kindness of others. It tried to provide one paid job for all families where the breadwinner suffered long-term unemployment. This author is a Libertarian and like Ron Paul does not live in the real world. Great video.
About dern time! I already knew some of this, and other parts I had inferred. My Granny cussed out FDR until the day she died. Good work for a school project. I just wish you and Remi would make us some new videos.
Came here from OVC, good luck!
