Now that VLC upgraded to 2.0, Handbrake no longer works because in the VLC upgrade they make it so that Handbrake won't recognize VLC anymore. So what do you recommend doing, or do you know a work around. And installing older versions of VLC doesn't work. Is there another simple to use free program?

I have been able to rip everything perfectly except for my Season 1&2 3disc set of Its always Sunny in Philadelphia. When I place the DVD's in and start running Handbrake it only scans the first episode on each disc instead of all of the episodes. I'm doing exactly what I have been doing on all of my other DVD and TV series DVDs, does anyone have any idea why this is happening

Idk ALL the formats, but i do know MP4 is available. Thats what i use.

Nice explanation... but for half of us VLC does not get recognized. Solution: Go to the MacTheRipper page and hit the link on top. That file (forget the name) is payware, but can 5 dvds in a trial mode. Just rips the movie and removes CSS

@lowers1987 Try selecting the movie on iTunes and click Advanced on the toolbar at the top and click "Create iPod or iPhone Version"... let me know if that works!

Handbrake actually does use VLC - it uses the codecs that are bundled with VLC. You make a lot of errors for a Macintosh blogger...

Handbrake does not rip real-time, it just depends on your processor. Mine takes 25 minutes to do a little over an hour. One of the new Macbook Pro's is to thank for that speed!

It says for me; HandBrake could not find VLC or your VLC is incompatible (Note: 32 bit vlc is not compatible with 64 bit HandBrake and vice-versa).

I downloaded the 32-bit Handbrake and the latest VLC.

Thanks so much for this..I've been wanting to copy a family movie into the computer. However I guess because my movie was made on a cd used to burn dvds I had to download vlc reader since the handbrake asked for it to be able to read the DVD :) just in case this happens to some one the handbrake will lead you to where u can download vlc which is also free & after, u don't need to do anything just upload the dvd again to handbrake

Very nice! I do have a question i hope you know. I cannot seem to get the resolution higher then 720 - 530 or something like that. Very nice for and Ipod, but i would like to rip a DVD and watch full screen. This results in that all movies have black frames above and below...

I am pretty sure i cannot get the resolution higher in Handbrake.

Do you know software for Mac or Windows wich will get the same quality (mpeg4) and get a higher resoltion? Like 1920-1080 would be perfect. Thanks in advance
