  • That section from 3:20 to 4:00 ( C minor, I think) is literally TERRIFYING...

  • Would you happen to have a historically informed performance of Piano Sonata 11? I would love to hear "Rondo alla turca" performed on a vintage pianoforte with a turkish stop, the way it was intended to be played.

  • @Garpinator You can here this performed exactly so at Finchcocks, a country house near Goudhurst, England where they have a wonderful collection of period instruments. I think they have a website. patnumbersix

  • @patnumbersix Unfortunately, I live in Houston, Texas. So that would be kind of a long way for me to travel for a concert. ;-)

  • "The saddest composition ever written in a major key." Mozart wrote this right after the death of his father.

  • How could anyone ever dislike this.

  • @xDissonancex someone with no soul

  • @xDissonancex

That's exactly what I was going to post.

PS- I'm performing the Dissonance quartet tomorrow and your name reminded me :)

  • I know this is a cliche but seriously, Words canNOT describe this beauty!

  • i am going to watch die zauberflute, did i spell that correctly?

  • this is my favourite part of Eine kleine nachmusik

  • sounds like it's in a different key? still wonderful though. :)

  • When my mother was dying a painful cancer death she would cry upon hearing Mozart's music and proclaim that his melodies blocked the pain.

January 27th should be a world holiday to celebrate the birth of this gifted composer.

  • this song can be very soothing. music to most people's ears!

  • this is my favorite musical piece,So beautiful and slow yet pacing

  • yeah, it has to be like one of the most truly romantic songs i ever heard

  • A truly wonderful piece of music, a brillient example of real chamber music written by one of the greatest composers of all time, and played by, i am sure, one of the greatest orchestras in the world.

this is the song that i converted one of my friends to Mozart with, it really reaches into the soul.

  • The greatest misician ever and one of his bests andante movements. Just Wonderful

  • this is a truly romantic and beautiful song! God bless Mozart!

  • wonderful. cant expect any less from andrew manze and the english concert! i really like them. great post! thanks a lot!

  • In the 18th century tuning on instruments was lower than it is today. That's why it sounds "out of tune" to you. This particular ensemble is playing in period style with period instruments in order to make this performance as close as possible to what Mozart himself would have heard.

  • wow, very interesting. i always come to listen to this version because some others on youtube take too quick a pace. i had wondered why they were in a different key. thanks for the clarification.

  • Not only the pitch is periodic here, my friend:)

Please notice how the performers play, it's almost no vibrato^^,

Hear how the warm overtones boils in the air.

  • you are so right. no wonder i <3 this version so much.

  • @KarlAmade THANK YOU!!! God do I hate these stupid conductors who want to apply a "Romantic" interpretation to classical and baroque music. Stop it! Every piece doesn't have to have modern conductors trying to wring more emotion out of a song that has all its emotions quite apparent. This interpretation is flawless and authentic and I am glad they dispensed of the inauthentic and annoying vibrato.

  • @Mercer1012

A "fanatic" .. as myself... this must be a work of God :P

This is the first positive response I get for a long time now!

    so... THANK YOU!!!!

  • You mean like this is way this piece really sounded in the 18th cenutury?

  • Most likely yes.

  • Interesting...do you have a video of the Mozart's Requiem "sounding like in the 18th century"?

  • I personally have yet to acquire one that I am fully satisfied with. I do have one with modern instruments uploaded, however I don't personally agree with some of the tempi (too slow).

What makes it my favorite modern instruments one though are the soloists; they are breathtakingly beautiful. The "Recordare" is excellant.

  • Don't be stupid, i beg you!

  • @TerryCPiano wow, dude, your an idiot
