  • Hello Mayen! I have signed up with YouTube and created a channel (not so easy to figure out, but I managed it, haha!). You and your cool cakes, have inspired me to make cakes! I see that you answer questions. So many people on here don't. I look forward to learning from you:)

    So, for that top tier- could a wedge shaped slice be taken off of the bottom, to make it set level? I don't know, maybe that's dumb.

  • Katie- I have thought of many possible ways to get it straight but once these are stacked, it's really hard to remedy the situation. especially if we are to slice from the bottom-- it would be more possible if I used styrofoam ( dummy cake ) and we could slice all we want... ) but since it's cake, once we set the balance off the whole thing can collapse as we are slicing it at the bottom . thanks a lot !

  • hehe! Silly:) I meant to slice the "wedge" off of the bottom, before you crumb coat or do anything else with the top cake:) lol

  • hahahahahaha.... now i get what you mean ! It really didnt look like id have a problem with it until it was all stacked and i looked at it sideways ... then i could not undo it ... but your idea does work before the cakes are covered and stacked. tnx!

  • I love all your work and whoever is sending you nasty emails doesn't have a life or anyone who loves them (obviously or they wouldn't be doing it). Keep up all the great, fantastic, awesome cakes that you have been making and forget about the losers out there and focus on the positive feedback.

    PS. Will you be coming out with any tutorials in the near future? I would love it if you did (and as I'm sure many would :-) )

  • As always, the details are amazing. Even the smallest detail seems perfect. I also love how you incorporated adding some gumpaste figure for the candle to sit on.

    Don't mind those emails. You have inspired me aas well as other people to make cakes. Without you, our passion in cake decorating would be hidden forever. Please never give up. We are all here for you.

    Can you share your cake recipe with us please. I see there are a few out there. Also, do you refrigerate the cake before putting the butter cream on or after? I want to make a cake for Easter but I'm a little overwhelmed with all the information I'm reading.

  • i wish i could do that one day :) for the recipes-- i go with the classic ones, what do you need? ( chocolate, marble swirl, mocha, yellow) i can send it to you

    here's the simplified steps- bake, level the cake, put the filling, put the crumb coat, refirgerate til the icing crusts or does not stick to your fingers-- then put the second layer of icing, refrigerate til it crusts again-- then cover with fondant :) crusting will take about an hour
