my parents are getting one in a couple of days, im a chevy guy but this seems alright, we had a 2000 explorer, and i liked it. even though i want a tahoe, cant wait to see how the 07 turns out,
@rcmaster1029 it not only a look, it is, there going to stop making big SUV's sense cross overs are selling more, and big suv's r dieing, i was reading it online, its sad, they making the new one off of the edge platform. soon they will will be doing this with GM, and thats where it will hurt me.
@296jayce It is sad. It would be a real shame to see the Suburban and Tahoe turned into crossovers. Right now they are still beefy body-on-frame SUVs with solid rear axles, the way it should be. Oh well...
"lacks the car-like steering feel of it's competitors"... If I wanted car like steering feel I'd get a car or a pansy japanese SUV. This is a man truck.
The keypad allows you to warm your car up on cold mornings exp if you live up north when it gets -0F. Nice to get into a warm car. Just leave it running with the alarm set.
@AdrianC12345 What if you ever forget it? The keyless pad works well. The 1995 Explorer had one and when my uncle left the damn keys in my dad's car, my dad was able to open it with the keypad.
@quatlen Are you retarded? Body on frame is what makes it strong. You must be one of those fags who loves to drive a weak car that have smashed in my dad's 1995 Explorer with no damage our car but it smashed Honda Civics, Toyotas, AND a full sized GMC WITH NO DAMAGE. My dad never had to repair the bumper ^ ^ Not even a scratch. That's how tough the Ford Explorer is being based on body on frame. Go to your weak cars and watch them get smashed like a tin can.
What kind of drugs is your Dad taking, because he's a dumbass to smash all those cars. He probably didn't fuck up your pissy ass Explorer because he wasn't high enough. Hey guys! Watch Ford make another recall with their vehicle within the next year!
Heh, at least my vehicle doesn't get recalled for a life threatening reason. By the way, My vehicles Isuzu Rodeo and Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS can't get smashed by a wimpy suck ass Explorer. I'll stop and visit you in the auto repair shop the next time your Explorer breaks down from mechanical issues.
=P Nah, my Ford Explorer does not have problems. I dare you to smash your shitty ass Japanese cars into my Explorer. My Explorer is a 1995 and it only has 60k miles. Practically brand new. No modifications so far but I'm going to put a supercharger on it.
Shitty ass japanese car? My Isuzu Rodeo good broadsided by a 1993 Mercury version of the Taurus, and THEIR car got damage, besides the reason why your 'Ford Explorer doesn't have any problems' is because you HARDLY DRIVE IT. My Isuzu Rodeo has 175,978 miles on it and never, ever had any problems! Still have the original clutch and everything! My 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport has 93,831 miles and only the reverse went out because my friend abused it for 200 miles! Quit acting like granny & drive.
I've done burnouts, drifts, and much more with my dad's Explorer. If you drove it like a race car and have only 60k miles, then it's equivalent to all those miles you have. You shouldn't be hating on Ford if you don't expect someone to fight you back. =) My Ford Mustang will burn all those cars by the way.
If you say thats the equivalent of the miles from all that 'racing' and 'drifts' that you do, why is it your Dads car? And all of a sudden, your talking about sports cars? We're talking about SUV's don't try to change the subject, and no duh its going to beat an SUV, its a SPORTS CAR. Thats uncompromising competition.
someone with a brain and knows what he talks about. I sent 2 expeditions in Africa and this is where I was able to test those suckers when cops chased us with shitty Japaneese Toyotas. They are strongly built for sure. You sit in a Japaneese, it's like being in a box made of thinfoil.
@SilentDrifter03 You know ya dont have to be rue to express your opinion. I for one love the Frd Escape I am in highschool its my first car 2007.:) All car makers have there fluzzies evry now and then. Toyota as you probally know just recalled over one million vehicles due to the acceleration pedal getting stuck because the tube that send gas to the engine was faulty and the pedal became hard to push slow to return and sometimes stuck. Just sayin.:)
You're insane? Most contractors and construction companies all buy Ford Trucks. They are a lot tougher and more durable than any Japaneese pick up or suv trucks. And they are also expensive to maintain.
@Alyr315, Am I talking about Pick Up Trucks, no. I am talking about SUV's and Ford Explorer doesn't make the cut for reliability. Nissan Titan wanted to be a gas guzzling truck just because Ford and Chevy and GMC were already gas guzzler. The Toyota Tundra is ugly designed, And thats not true, Korean, and Japanese SUV's are much more cheaper to maintain than a Ford Explorer or a Chevrolet Trail Blazer. Beside, I think I want to actually save gas, not waste it on those big ass cinder blocks.
@SilentDrifter03 cheaper to maintain, doesn't always mean that it's better. Thing I don't understand is, if you like Mazda and other Japanese makers, why even argue here on a Ford clip? Obviously, people here do not agree with you. And there is nothing wrong with what's here. Any vehicle can break down if the owner doesn't take care of it.And fuel economy is the last thing an suv owner is thinking about when owning an Explorer.
And thats a good thing? Don't smile to that, someone here locally died because of that problem. Plus, I don't own a Toyota. I have a Mitsubishi, and a Isuzu. And besides the reverse transmission failing on one of them, I never had a problem with both of my SUV's.
I wasn'tsaying that was good. All cars have flaws eventually. It may be after you have turned it into a dealership and someone else buys it. So please don;'t start a fight I was jus making a point just forget it please. Thanks
@ newdriverspermit And they're saying that problem is not Toyota's fault, Pontiac also has the same problem also. At least Toyota has the nerve to stop production of the vehicle until the problem is fixed unlike GM who would let their customers keep driving in danger.
Ford! I am from a Ford family! My dad has a 1994 E-350, 1998 F-250, and a 1999 Windstar. He plans on trading the Windstar for an Expedition. My mom has a 2003 Taurus and is getting an Edge. I get the Taurus! My dad's E-350 has 430,000 miles and is still strong! My mom's Escort had 390,000 before she traded it in for the Taurus! Fords last forever!
im in love with this s.u.v i have the 07 but if it wasnt for all the problems the includes in there trasmission and they dont talk about it ,it would have been the best...
Well..., since it's a 2002 model..., it could be a lemon that, you've bought. Most cars be involved in terrible wrecks...and, the dealer whom, buys it, just patch it up, here and, there(to make it look nice and, neat)and, put it up for sale! Other than that..., you probaly had it in the wrong gear. Two of my sisters had their 2003 Ford Explorers for, almost 3yrs....and, never had any major problems with them!
Standard features include air conditioning, tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio and climate controls, cruise control, 6-way power driver seat, and outside-temperature indicator.
For the Middle East Market they AWD is not offered on the Explorer but on the Mercury and the 4x4 is offered on the Explorer instead. We dont have the v8 also. different marketing strategy I think they did it so the Explorer wont take away the sales of the Mercury
you probably don't have the limited and eddie bauer trims either then.the main difference between the awd and 4x4 on the explorers and mountaineers,is that the awd system is meant for on road performance, and the 4x4 for off road, both have low range, and can operate in 4 wheel drive on road.but the awd dosen't have a center diff lock!

Oh okay Dev Pack. so what kind of car do you drive. Yea maybe u dont like the ironman. But atleast Ford made a package that stands out alittle from all the millions of other black and silver SUVs. I drive the same orange car as in this video. Yes its alittle weird but atleast i have a tough sporty young persons looking car. Thers alot of orange cars coming out right now. When its next to a limited or eddie bauer ex this package grabs your attention and sets it apart.
yo dirtyder..i am a ford guy i own about 3 of them(Explorer,Expedition, and gt500). and soon a Taurus... im sure ford cam come up wiht something better than the ironman i just looks ugly. The new explorer sport is a good start but they gotta keep working

I have this same Explorer in this color Orange Frost! I get compliments on it alot. Mostly about the color and the Ironman Package side moldings. I hope ford keeps making the Explorer in the future because this SUV can do everything well. The quality Overall Seems to be pretty good with no problems so far. And alot of the new crossover SUVs out right now look like Soccer mom cars. But the Explorer kept its tough and sporty looks at least with the Ironman pkg.
