  • pt. ravishanker danyawad.

  • This song is based on Raga Janasammohini a favourite Raga of Pt. Ravi Shankar as well as other exponents of Maihar Gharana,.& not Kalavati. The two Ragas are similar, except that Janasammohini also has shuddha Rishabh. An excellent rendering of this Raga by Pandit Vasantrao Deshpande is available on the You tube

  • My god how good lataji sings..... may god bless her with a long long life .....

  • I just can't stop admiring this song. One of the best lata songs.

  • Song describes of the women's feelings in the movie. Superb classical display. Quality music direction from Ravi Shankar.

  • lovely song.fiilings of lossing lovely days of our life occurs so deeply.

  • :)

  • Hai re! woh din kyun na aaye. Aajkal kyun itni gehree aur samvedansheel filmein nahi ban pati. Shayad sare directors ka talent Sheela ki jawani dekhne-dikhane mein hi guzar jati hai.

  • THIS SONG WAS WRITEN BY SAILEDRAJI OF SHANKR JAIKISHAN TEAM,SEACH OF RAAJ KAPOOR SAAB ,FATEHCHAND TNAGDA.

  • immortal composition we will no longer see such compositins no more because the entire 40-70 era belongs to the immortals today we are stuck with crap im 27 but i like these songs much better relaxing and emotional

  • Raag Jansamohini (very close to Kalavati, difference is just in usage of Swar 'Re'.) Wonderful composition indeed. Mehdi Hassan has also rendered 'Charag-E-Tur Jalao Bada Andhera Hai' in same Raag, what a composition, equally good as this one.

  • this is my fav song.

  • i like this song since childhood.... and loved Leela Naidu... She was crowned miss india and was in the list of 10 most beautiful women in the world at her time... She acted in just six movies in her life including Ye Raste hain pyar k... Merchant Ivory's "The House Holder" and Shyam benegal's "Trikaal".....

  • The end of Anuradha was picturized in a damn good way... very touchy.. wher her lover waits for her outside the house with Car (as they discussed it on last day and she even tell her husband that she will leave her next morning).. but the next mrning when husband awakes and listen horn of the Car he runs to c his wife leaving him... but he find her wife cleaning house with broom...

  • A suprb song... what a nice combi of Lata and Ravi .. a supb movie "Anuradha" reminding me of "Bandini". the same theme... the intensity of Love where these women have option of better way of life but they select their love...

  • Thank you Lord. Are we blessed or what? What a soulful song. Even if you do not know the language you can understand the emotion.

  • One of the best song embedded in the memory since childhood days, a beautiful composition.

  • dear vohit sahib .thanks for putting me right .there is definately use of rikhab in avrohi .whenever tunes are made in indian films these things happen ,

  • ah... those days will never come..never..now what we listen 90% is NOISE(ELECTRIC)indian pure classical music is now a dream....ANURADHA was a great movie .leela naidu and balraj sahani//a doctor and a wife ..the clash .of love and duty.

here NAZEER HUSSAIN /whom dilip kumar remarked a s his guru and leela naidyu/balraj..music .by RAVI SHANKER JI.

  • This song is based on Raag Janasammohini. This Raag is very similar to Raag Kalavati but has Shuddha Rishabh in avaroha

in addition to the notes of Raag Kalavati.

  • wish the same...the days from 1st july 2007 to august 2007 were the best in my life ever.

  • this song is in RAG KALAVTI AND THIS ALSO ONE OF MYFAVOURIT SONG WHA RAVI SHANKER SAHIB WONDERFULL

  • @kk10061 Slightly different form kalavati, Jan sammohini I think

  • @kk10061 : Close to kalavati, but I think this is jan sammohini

  • In the search of good old days, when i was ONLY captive of my voice and my music. When i sang with my own imaginations. May Almighty Allah provide me, the same days of pleasure and peace. Khalid Asghar.

  • one of the best song of indian music, of course pt ravi shanker compose it, that why.

  • Thanks for posting this beautiful classic song by Lataji well picturized on Leela Naidu, the great Indian beauty of yesteryears and well composed by the Master classic Ravishankarji.

  • great posting.

  • Thanks for posting this classical song of Lataji, well picturized on Leela Naidu, a great Indian beauty of yesteryears and perfectly composed by the Indian classical musician Ravishankarji. A uniue combination.

  • one of the etrnal great film with Balraj Sahani, Leeela Naidu, Pt. Ravi Shankar excelling. This particular song in Raag Jansamohini par excellence.

  • Such a beautiful song. This will always haunt a song lover.

  • Wow ! What a wonderful song ! ! What a voice ! What a tune ! Absolutely Brilliant ! !Probably one of the best songs I've ever heard ! I was actually stunned when I heard it for the first time. Hats off to Lata Mangeshkar & Pt. Ravi Skankar to produce such a masterpiece ! Thank you for uploading such a HQ video.

  • Love all the songs in this film... Love Leela and Balraj! Love the performances... and the Story! A classic all the Way!!!!

  • ONE OF THE ALL TIME BEST SONGS EVER

  • Absolutely

  • but the compostion seems having difficulties in inserting lyrics, sweet bangla rythm is very obvious.

what ever raag it is, has beautful

    bangla influence, has tewar ghandhar,

it has komal in rekhab. the intervals are

not that of karnataka, it might be shudh

kalyan raag. but the composition is extra ordinaire

  • It is rag janasammohini ;similar to kalavati but with shudh re also in avaroh i think. Here komal ga also has been used at the end

  • superb composition By the maestro Ravi Shankar

  • Yes many many years ago I saw this beautiful film with my dear mother. This song was one of my mother's favourite songs and brings so many memories to mind .

O why o why do we not hear such music any more?

Why have we lost our sensitivity and aesthetics ?

  • @vijayapant ...this was my mom's fav song as well...she was a great singer and always sang in parties etc.

  • beautiful song. can i get mp3 version somewhere? pierces , calms and transports mind to a different plane.

  • OMG I LOVE this song! Have always loved singing this for years. What a beautiful but heartbreaking sad song! (I also love the fact that Balraj Sahni was in this movie, and song scene, as he was one of those actors who commanded fond respect from viewers for his understated subtle acting ). Thank you for sharing such a sweet vintage music Gem! Love it. Thanks and Best Wishes to All for a Happy, Safe and Peaceful New Year 2009. Ritu, California, USA.

  • Out of world experience every time I hear it. My #1 all time favorite... Thanks for posting. Amazing Pt Ravi Shankar... Lata... Leela Naidu.

  • This is Abhogi Raaga

  • i THINK THIS IS A RAGA COMPOSED BY RAVI SHANKAR HIMSELF CALLED JANASAMMOHINI

  • Yah,, it sounds different... Sorry for posting a wrong Raga Name. It uses Anthara Gandhara or Komala Gandhara so I got confused

  • sorry,, Sadharana Gandhara.. oops again :)

  • isnt this kalavati

  • This raga is not composed by Ravishankar. It was known as Shubha Kalyan but had become obscure. Pt. Ravishankar discovered it in Karnatak music & brought it back to Hindustani music with its Karnatak name.

  • Love this song. I also love Balraj Sahni

  • no doubt balraj sahni was garycooper of indian cinema

  • This was a really beatiful depicting the story of a woman married to a doctor who has no time for her or her music.Leela Naidu was one of the most beatiful actresses the indian cinema has ever had though she acted in very few films.Balraj sahni was great.A very sensitive film.

  • you can't have a better song than this!

  • wow!!! mesmerising

  • One of the best ever haunting Hindi melodies that I have come across. Leela Naidu looks ethreal.

  • I am thinking of chance. It just a chance that Lata and Ravishankar came together to create such a penetratingly sweet song. Think of the probability. Some street singers I heard in childhood days were very talented, loved to listen to them. Well, where are they now? No fame, no glory, no even a single trace. Can you imagine how many such chances never occur?

  • Workoholic doctor husband played by Balraj Sahani, who is devoted to his patients and profession. And ingored wife played by Lila Naidu, one of the classy actresses. Very simple story, but powerful emotions. There were only four songs, this one being the best of them all. Another one of those sweet melodies that makes you so lucky to have Lata Mangeshkar in our life.

  • any one with the slightest sense of any music should get attracted to this wonderful piece of musical creation, simply one of the greatest songs in the indian industry

  • Wow! This is a haunting melody!!! The grief of the woman oozes out so brilliantly!

  • yes..very right

  • movie was good too

  • Having seen the all the songs available here for this film, I must say that the direction of the film is excellent. The songs are extraordinary, whilst the music is quite melodious. First time I have seen this actress, Laila Naidu, and she is gorgeous. Good old times?...Wish we had more of this!

  • The raag is Janasammohini, not Kalavati, and it is Ravi Shankar's invention. He is obviously very fond of it, since he plays it as welcoming music for his website!

  • priceless!

  • A very beautiful song - based on raaga - Kalavati. Can someone post my most favourite song from this movie - calles Saanware Saanware ?

  • Awesome composition by Pt. Ravi Shankar and beautifully sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

  • A great song in Raag Kalavati in line with some other great songs in the same Raag - koi sagar dil ko behlata nahin - Rafi in film Dil diya Dard liya, O ghata sanvari

thori thori banvari - Lata in film Abhinetri and the latest - ye taara vo taara her taara from fil Swades.

  • lata's voice is mind bogglingly beautiful

  • Awesome...one of my all-time favs. Saachi, ThanX a lot for uploading all these gems!

  • Sorry, Riddler I thought Saachi posted it...I apologize! ThanX for posting this gem of a song...again sorry buddy!

  • Bitter sweet music...
