According to several studies, white tea has the most caffeine (by weight) out of all the classes of tea. This makes sense as the new buds would be the most vulnerable to pest attack, and where the plant would send most of its defense reinforcements (caffeine). However, L-Theanine, the chemical known to produce the calming effect from the tea plant, is also highest in white tea.
