I liked the Jason character. He was just the type of pencil pushing beancounter that McCall couldn't tolerate. I think he would have made things interesting if he turned up more often in later seasons.
I remember Saul Rubinek in true Romance and an episode of STNG where he tried to 'collect' Data. But just listening to the backgroud music sets the Equalizer apart from other series. That was one of the greatest Tv series ever.
Great scene...I first recall seeing Rubinek in a guest role in the TV series, "Matrix", where he plays a guide for one of the main character's mission, in this case , a stage hand in the "City In-Between", he was much more likeable then, totally despicable in this role on "The Equalizer", I wish McCall had popped him one for his blatant display of arrogance.
Didn't his character also go out with Daphne in 'Frasier'?
Love Robert Mc Call's nylon 'syrup' (of figs = wig!). Bit of a 'bob' cut there on the back of his head! Maybe he could coax his wig off his head with a saucer of milk!
Yes. Instead of playing a slimy middle management type, or a slimy boyfriend, he played a slimy writer. Someone needs to get Rubinek a role with no slime involved.
The first season is on DVD - finally! I hope the second season is out soon - this is one of the best series ever made for TV (especially compared to the crap offered these days).
I loved this show, along with so much of the eighties. You know I'm forced to look at You tube and DVD's just to get a look at old entertainment. Reality shows and American Idol get old real fast.

McCall was a very scary man when he became violent. He makes the Incredible Hulk look like Bambi.

That's it—I'm going back and watching this whole series (or as much of it as I can find)

Jason seemed quite camp to me. I have seen this ep and McCall really put the frighteners on him, especially at the end.

I love how the other actor stays calm as Robert McCall gets really furious.
I remember that actor (Sorry can't remember his name) in Lois & Clark Superman and Frasier he's really good actor and talented.

What is Jason wearing? His scarf in a fetching tea-towel pattern, worn in the style of Rupert Bear, is especially tragic.

I reckon you've known who Rupert Bear is all along. Just another attention seeker trying to bask in my reflected glory.
I pity the fool.

Brilliant! Thanks for posting. The acting and the music makes it very watchable and, as you say, chilling.
