@machine3gdi I (the FJR rider) do clutchless shifts, which requires me to let off the throttle, but gives me quicker and smother shifts under full acceleration. However, I do need to work on letting off the throttle less. My shifts happen in 0.2-0.25s (based on data logging of the throttle dipping from 100% down, then back up to 100%)
What RPM do you shift at, it sounded like around 8500 or so. I ran my 04' when it was stock and got 11.1's. Since I have the Remus Grand Prix slip-ons, power commander, K&N with opened up air intake, should be a bit quicker now.
@Snappinarsehole Right around 9000 RPM into 2nd and 3rd and a bit lower (~8700) into 4th. I'd provide a link to graphs that prove this to be optimal, but youtube won't let me. Google "yamaha fjr optimum shift points" and look for the result on the "FJR Forum".
@jockpc DWhat year FJR do you have? I know the 2005 and earlier bikes had slightly lower gearing and slightly less weight (more acceleration), with the 2003 being the lightest.
Try not leaving off the throttle when you shift, waste a lot of power and time doing that
