  • 0;01 - 6;51 - my favourite part <3

  • everytime I watch her at 2:34, I just DIE. she's so expressive, and really displays the vitrues of "less is more."

  • SPECTACULAR!

  • my mum loves htis song

  • I LOVE her ''come get me, f*ckers'' face at 6:38

  • does it really matter if they're playing the instruments or not? Cos it's bloody amazing anyway!!! :) i love chicago!!

  • I love It, This is the best Musical :D

  • Excelente Epoca 1920

  • Catherine Zeta-Jones was simply superb..And she's gorgeous!! I love the bob cut on her.

  • This video quality is great. I love this song so much!!!

  • I think Catherine Zeta-Jones it´s great!!...

  • GRANDIOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ignor what i said about being up a key or the soundtrack being down a key, i must of been listening to a dodgey soundtrack version! it all sounds fine.

but if anyone could answer my other questions :)

    that would be appreciated. Thanks

  • another question of mine if someone could please answer, i'm guessing these are not the musicians although it looks like they could be, but i guess there is a recording.....but they cant be miming that? cause it all looks like real notes and stuff they are doing, plus noise would be heard playing the drums, yet you can hear the atmopshere noises and actors talking, HOW or WHAT do they do :) its all intresting,

im always obsessed with how different soundtracks are to the actual thing you see! :)

  • The singing and music is recorded previously, they are lipsynching and faking to be playing instruments... The final sound you hear is a composite of the prerecorded soundtrack, voices, ambience sounds... they put microphones here and there so they capture exactly the sounds they want and elliminate those not wanted... And also there's post-production where more sounds can be added to the mix while others can be edited.

  • Brilliant :)

    thanks for that.

so are the people faking to be playing instruments musicians? cause the way they move the Wah/Plunger mute on the trumpets/trombones is right to what they would be doing, and when you see the drummer and clarinet player it all looks right, so are they musicians at all?

or have they been told what to do?

same for the piano player, in funny honey on the really hard piano jazzy bit, his hands move perfectly to what it sounds like

  • I guess that although they are faking the music playing they may be very well professional trained musicians... If I were the casting director, I'd rather hire people who knows how an instrument is supposed to be played. It's not like it's impossible to find, there are plenty of talented people who play instruments and look good on camera. It's more reallistic in the final product.

  • I'm 95% sure it was mimed. In club scenes it is often quiet on set. I would be this was pre-recorded and was being played back as they were filming. There is no way that was not recorded in studio or that they would get it perfect in one shot. There are too many variables.

I have this posted in 720p on my channel if you want to look closer.

  • They were able to do it in My Fair Lady, don't see why they couldn't in this day and age. Though it does sound like them, who knows.

  • Jamez, I own the piano book of this musical which contains a different rendition of this song, so parts of the this song are in a different key and parts are switched and cut and added to the piano book rendition.

  • this is brilliant, i love the overture...I think i prefer the show recording, as it has this deep SAX part which does one of the piano/trombone parts, one thing i dont get, Nearly every musical the soundtrack is different! i'm sure this sounds like its in a different key to the soundtrack, up a key i think! why do they do that?

and you can hear more instruments in this, like the clarinet when the camera goes close up :) i like it.

  • Thanks for putting this up, I absolutely love this sound even though I'm more of a fan of the big "spectacle" musicals like Phantom and Les Mis. Catherine Zeta-Jones is one of my favourite actresses and she actually sings and moves so well!

  • GREAT!

However I wish they would have made this movie in the 70's or 80's with Bob Fosse directing and staring Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera!

  • were doing a Broadway dance to this sooooo excited! luv the song!!!

  • LOVE. MUST have the Overture in connection with "All that Jazz". I'm glad to see you didn't eliminate it.

  • I know. Velma's walk is too sexy to miss out on!

  • Agreed. She's so fierce!

  • such an amazing song..this should have way more views

  • what was so aazing was how much renee zelweger (yea i know i'm a horrible speller) lost so much weight and catherine zeta jones was actually pregnant during the production of the film...just an interesting fact...love this song, we got to sing this in my junior year of high school in our choir, loved it!

  • OUTSTANDING!!!

    really good quality and sound.
