This was the first thing i ever heard done by opeth, and i thought it was their own work, and i was like "holy shit....this i the best thing i have ever heard" then someone introduced me to robin trower....
@ruleram1 haha sorry i didnt explain, this was maybe three years or so ago, i am a massive opeth fan now :p seen them twice and own all their work, they are one of my favourite ever bands!
I remember I went on a moonlit walk once listening to this. Dead of night. Enjoying a fresh mexican coke. Looove this song and all their previous works.
I swear, absolutely nobody else could cover this tune and pull it off like this. I totally dig the Trower tune, and I totally love this over of it. Opeth fµçking rocks. Wish they'd done this when I saw them in NYC at Terminal 5.
@DocJoe4209981 That's Warren Haynes' band, yes? I saw him play with The Dead. Good stuff (although I still miss Jerry). I have never seen Govt. Mule, though.
@photodharma You are correct! His work in The Dead is nothing compared to Mule! With Mule he does what he wants, when he wants.....Without Bobby or Phil telling him what to do (thats why he left The Dead!!)
The tone they get from those PRS's are unreal. Little bittle of delay /w a warm full-bodied tone. Those Laney amps really capture that semi 70's-early 80's tone.
@Flaggius Really? I think his clean vocals are a little weak and a little monotonous after a while. Still a good singer, he has a very very good death metal tone to his voice.

Great cover, he came sooooo close to nailing those vocals. Foo Fighters and Metallica's covers don't touch this one

I am not a fan of Death Metal but I LOVE Opeths work because of Mikael's ability to actually sing instead of only grunt and growl all the time.
