Jeff made a reference to sounding/looking like "Jim Morrison playing the bluegrass" at a concert in 97ish in Lond, ON...I caught them in Sarnia...bad venue for them, but still awesome.I saw some of Jeff's stuff with Armada...awesome drums and he ripped a lot of solos.
i saw these guys back in 95 in Madison,WI ... best show i have ever seen!! there might have been 20-30 people at that show, and i talked to Jeff after the show, he was real down to earth and friendly, will never forget that show!!!!
@madmordigan83 I know exactly what you mean. In ways I agree with you, but this is just opinion too. When bands such as Zep or the Doors aren't around themln this is what we've got.. Although they aren't even around anymore. But I do understand what you mean. No one can come near those bands, but these guys do a damn fine job of what they do
Rumour seems true Wikipedia says that they will reform briefly to play Sarnia Bayfest and Canadian tour. Sarnia Bayfest listed the Tea Party on their website as participants. PASS IT ON!
what made these gusy so popular back in the day is that no matter how big they got they would still play small venues i remeber going to see them in bellville ontario at the waterfront and it only cost 5 dollars
This was such an awesome band, wish they would get back together. I heard rumours that they get back together but didn't hear anything more after that. All I know is that Jeff is doing solo accoustics at the moment.
He does look like Jim Morrison and has admitted to it though he has also admitted that in no real way does he like The Doors or their music. When some of their songs featured sitars or tabla drums, that came from his nearly fanatic love for The Beatles.
I've seen these guys a few times and I've been blown away by the talent in this band every time. They picked up where Zeppelin left off. The way they experiment with different instruments from different cultures is great. Really miss their music, great band, great music :)
One of my favorite bands of all time. Have all their albums. I used to skip class and go buy the new one when they came out. I would drive around the rest of the day just rocking out to them. They were so under appreciated and did not ever get the credit or exposure they deserved. I attended every concert of theirs I could get to. Ultimately I think I saw them 7 times. It was a sad day in my life when I heard Jeff had left the band. I can only hope for a reunion tour to get my fix once again.

I told some American friends that Jimmy Page and Jim Morrison made a record together but it was never released. "Someone found the tapes and had them digitally remastered" I said. Then I played Splendor Solace.
Blew their minds! Didn't help that everyone was high. So funny.
I completely agree, this band is one of my main influences as an artist and yet perhaps my main influence because of what my music sounds like. I would listen to their albums for hours, days, months in a row. I would be immersed in the sound pick up my guitar and play what they inspired. I'm indebted to them for showing me the music of the east.
I played on the same bill as these guys back in 1995. Angola, NY. They played on the beach in the afternoon. Jeff Martin had a great line between songs, "this is what happens when you mix tequlia and mescaline". Their first 2 albums are awesome.
They stopped becoming this band, and became something horrible! then they all started blaming one another as to why they started to suck, so jeff martin fucked off to do his own thing. Then legal problems followed! Jeff couldn't get back more then half his own guitars back when he left! shitty.....anyway 102.1 in toronto plays bullshit, support local radio kiddies!
@Orieus What station in Toronto plays stuff like the Tea Party and other heavier rock and to go so far as Metal? Because I'd love to know, they repeat the songs so much on there and seldom do I hear anything good. Although Fred plays Tool and did plays Lateralus on Halloween. That was fucking choice!
@Krafterr4 well u will find nothing but garbage on the Edge, i don't listen to them anymore, probably from about 8 yrs now.....fuck that corporate shit........pretty much the only decent station to catch indie music in general such as metal, experimental sounds would be CIUT 89.5 fm.......but basically u know how it is, find good music via going to local shows or finding it on the net or word of mouth........
I spoke to Jeff few years about at one of his gigs
@Krafterr4 so Jeff told me, he was tierd of trying to sound like a commercial band, he wanted to get more into the art of music like in their first 2 albums.......he said gigging in toronto was well, bs.....he found lots of success in australia and europe too.......In north america we have been fuckin sheep, being force jay-z and katy perry......they don't want us to listen to thought provoking music anymore.....anyway thats my rant and I hope thats sheds some insight......
These guys were freakin amazing!! They sounded as good live as they did on their album...EVEN BETTER!! I must have seen them 6-7 times back in the late 90's in Buffalo, Niagara Falls Ont at the Peace Festival. and in up in Barre, Ont and they absolutely blew my mind!!
Miss these guys - saw them over 30+ times back in the day - got to interview them some as well. Nothing will beat hearing this song for the first time in a small club - 1993. Too bad egos and drugs got in the way.....at the end.
These guys went to my igh school. Sandwich Secondary in LaSalle, Ont. As kids, you could go down the street and here them jamming in the garage on victory street. This was when they were just garage jammin, hardly popular. But definately cool memories. Now the drummer is a DJ on a local radio station in Windsor
I saw these dudes live a few times . First time was in 1992 @ the Town Pump in Vancouver BC. They opened the set with this song. The crowd was blown away for the entire set. The drummer is one of the greatest in rock music .
just an AWESOME BAND!!!! and if he doesn't look like Jim Morrison ABSOLUTELY in this era, I don't know?! I would like to think this what Morrison would have been in the 90's on.... wowow!!!
@bloodsling These guys were rather big in England and Australia, just not in the USA. Mostly because of their label I'm sure. Thats not a fact, but lots of Canadian artists get fucked for signing onto a label that doesn't allow them much US airplay, and therefore, fame and fortune.
I saw these guys when they first got started...simply amazing..and like @Thejurneyman said..how can a shit band like Nickleback be around, and Tea Party isn't?!
This band is just the ultimate. So great and so unique. I would compare these guys to Zeppelin or The Doors any day. They deserve it. AND their Canadian. :)

@somedude2319 This is right after straight off their independent release--first release off of basically the enhanced/remake of their small independent album. This was also with very limited funds in 1992.....
@xHadaVerdex And he eventually grew to resemble Captain Morgan at one point :P I actually remember when this came out all my friends were calling them "The next doors" or "The Doors meets Zeppelin", as I remember Jeff got pretty sick of the comparisons lol
Nickelback is making music for the same reason Justin Bieber is already a millionaire. It's all a brilliant marketing scheme. Let's face it...every fuckin' Nickelback song sounds the same. It's commercial vomit. If you can find a way to take advantage of the stupid, ignorant masses, the world will be yours. It has nothing to do with being fair.
People keep talking about he looks and sounds like Jim Morrison, blah, yeah maybe but that makes no difference. What is important is that this band managed to compose songs that were on par with the best Zeppelin songs and then...
His use of dissonance, harmony lines, LYRICS, the breathing room inside the songs, is what makes this band one the GREATEST ROCK BANDS of all time. No one else makes that kind of music, to my knowledge.

@xHadaVerdex if you walk the walking wounded music video... just think of will ferrell when you see him.
JamesVanh 1 year ago
@xHadaVerdex And he eventually grew to resemble Captain Morgan at one point :P I actually remember when this came out all my friends were calling them "The next doors" or "The Doors meets Zeppelin", as I remember Jeff got pretty sick of the comparisons lol
ZarathustrasCrown 1 year ago 2
@ZarathustrasCrown but still they have their own style! I think they must've feel honored by being compared with The Doors or Led Zeppelin, though.

this would be a great song to listen to on LSD

@streets1390 Nope- not required. It's an excellent song all on it's own.

I love this song. The whole album is just amazing. I actually got to meet Jeff Burrows, he's a really cool guy.

this is such a great song, but someone needs to tell the lead singer that pirate shirts are really gay.

Justin Bieber is a faggot and his voice makes me feel like I'm getting AIDS from it everytime I have to hear it....
Nickelback is rehashed and I can't listen to it anymore...
This however... is our generation's The Doors...
Genius...

It's hard to pick a favourite song by these guys, but if I had to pick one it would be this one. Please get back together again!

It has nothing to do with being fair.

frederickoltersdorf 1 year ago
People keep talking about he looks and sounds like Jim Morrison, blah, yeah maybe but that makes no difference. What is important is that this band managed to compose songs that were on par with the best Zeppelin songs and then...
His use of dissonance, harmony lines, LYRICS, the breathing room inside the songs, is what makes this band one the GREATEST ROCK BANDS of all time. No one else makes that kind of music, to my knowledge.

@TheJurneyMan Nickleback is great
SuperLost815 1 year ago
@TheJurneyMan because good musicians evolve, they move on, they dont stay stagnant. they did great work already, and each took his own path.
but yeah, i do understand your feeling.
