I know I'm putting my order in for a 5.0L Mustang in the next couple of wks =)... I'll def be one of the first if not THE first in my local community to own one.. Im pretty excited..
ATTENTION Ladies and Gentlemen.... I work for a Ford Dealership in Pennsylvania and we received a press release stating that customers could put there orders in for the 5.0L Mustang within the next month or so and have the vehicle within 12 weeks... Its a little bit of a wait only because of it being the first batch... Also if your interested in the new Raptor F-150 6.2 L most dealerships should be taking orders right now... I know ours is..... Just throwing out a little of excitement...
I would prefer the 2011 the v6---305 30mpg and cheaper-----this is a v8 pushing 315hp-----v8=more power, but I got to go with the v6 on this---I can mod the v6 and save my cash......
Actually just to get the facts straight, not to ensue a pissing contest, but the Camaro is the fastest of the 3 with 4.9 0-60 times, the Mustang GT comes in at 5.1, and the Challenger is like 5.6 on RT? But its not all bad, i mean since the dawn of time its been the same formula, the Camaro was always a slightly better performer and the Mustang was always slightly cheaper so it balances nicely
Also the SS isnt aimed at the GT500, it aimed at the GT, SRT8 is supposed to rival GT500 but fails
The Mustang is faster than the Camaro because it is lighter. Both the new Challenger and the new Camaro are much heavier. Also, Both of them are aimed at the Mustang GT 500, which has 540 horse and kicks both of their asses. Don't forget...another way to "win" is in sales. The Mustang is the one that outsold Challenger and Camaro combined for so long those 2 were discontinued. Now their parent companies are bankrupt while Ford is thriving. For the obvious reasons.
Oh? Ford is having a great year and posting a 24% profit. Chevroloser is in bankruptcy, oh...make room for Chrysler...and this just in: Toyota. Camaro has never, will never sell more cars than Mustang. Why do you think the Mustang remained while all the other pony cars disappeared? Mustang kicked their asses.
@oldmusher Well actually the Camaro has outsold the Mustang 10 months straight after last month's figures, and i can source it if need be...im not an all out Chevy guy, i love and support all muscle not just any one brand, but i just wanna make sure the facts stay facts here, ive seen too many assumptions and false rumors flying around recently
Oh yeah dude, if it's V6 vs V6 the Camaro dominates. Ford dropped the ball on the V6 version while Chevy raised the bar, no doubt. But you have to admit that 304 to 306 hp for a N/A V6 has been relatively unheard of.....So i blame Ford for that fumble (or i praise Chevy for that breakthrough) but i certainly admit the truth as i see it. V6 to V6 is no comparison. Camaro dominates
The 2010 Camaro V6 has 302 horsepower, i think thats pretty rediculous seeing as how the new Mustang's V8 model only has a 13 horsepower boost over the Camaro's economy model, haha
Although i will give kudos, they do go a long way with those 315 horses, i'd still like to see some higher ratings though, they may be quick but its just not as fun showing off 315 horses as it is 426 (as in the Camaro SS)
I still love all three; Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger.
The HP argument is irrelevant seeing that the Stang has 315 and the SS has 426 (over 100 more!!!) but yet the SS is only 1 tenth of a second faster, that is what is ridiculous dude. If no one ever told what HP rating these cars were and all you knew was the truth that the Stang was only 1 tenth behind the SS then what would your argument be??? See what i mean??? HP isn't the end all LOL there are many other factors. You "HP numbers only" boys are funny to me. You make little sense
oh no no, dont get me wrong im not saying thats a BAD thing, i praise the Mustang for being able to accomplish all it does with all of its drawbacks (meager 315hp by today's standards, 5-speed transmission, and live rear axle) its a performance breakthrough in itself plus being the cheapest of the big 3
Im just saying, imagine if the GT had the power, transmission, and rear axle of the Camaro/Challenger without having to upgrade to GT500, it'd be a performance AND financial monster
I would love the 5.0L to come back but given how the market is shifting expect the 3.5L Ecoboost that will come the Taurus SHO and in the 2010 Flex that will give that V8 performance in a V6 gas mileage. Given from what I have been reading the Mustang V6 still seems to hold its own against the over V6 competitors specially Chevy's.
Im amazed at how it got the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile as the 370z which has like 20 more hp with a v6 and is lighter but i guess torque has a lot to do with this cars great performance.
Yeah i notice that too , i would of thought the 370 z would probaly beat it out by a second cuz its lighter . If ford brings the 5.0 back in 2011 , then im sold .
yea, and i have heard from everything i read that hte 5.0l 4v engine with 400 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque will be in the 2011 mustang and the 2010 f150.
thats will be nice to see , its been lacking hp since 1993 in my opinion . from there it went 215 , 260 , 305 and then 315 hp . if they bring 400hp thats a big jump .
hey guys i saw this thread and figured id let something slip... i have a buddy that works for ford in there RnD sector... The 5.0 is the new modular for the F150 and its rated at a square 400... typically and historically the mustang has shared the engine with the f150 and again historically it is always a little more powerful. The numbers i would expect to see are from 415hp-445hp with torque numbers from 395 -415ftlbs
Thanks bro, yes i cannot wait for it. The f-150 needs a new engine too, the 5.4l isn't cutting it anymore with all of the competition, I know its very reliable but still it needs more power. Can't wait for all of the new upgrades for all of the cars consisting of ecoboost, the new 5.0 and hopefully there are more.
the 2011 v6 has the dual exhaust

1. ford is NOT thriving!
2. a camaro ss is .1 sec slower in the quater mile, with 114 less hp and oh about 13-15 thousand less.

But to be fair the argument was V6 vs V6 and at least in THAT department i give the win, undeniably hands-down to the 2010 Camaro
