  • @joanabanyeres-Ha ha, I'm sure U enjoyed Daniel Day Lewis's film Last of the Mohicans, but if U didn't notice, my name here on the Tube is Lastofdmelocchians:) As in Arturo Melocchi. I appreciate the recommendation to de los Angeles. But, honestly, I don't enjoy listening to Sopranos as much as men's voices(not including Castratos & Counter-tenors)

  • @lastofdmelocchians

Well l enjoy all voices when they are good... Then don't look at my canal l am a soprano spinto.

  • Through the years, I've always favored this recording by Wunderlich out of all the other tenors...BUT, I'm very surprised after just listening 2 Bjoerling's studio & "live" version, I actually like those better! Both tenors are gr8. I just now prefer Jussi's version:) U know what it is? Bjoerling's legato is endless & he's always on his voice. While, Wunderlich I thought crooned in a few places. Nothing wrong w/that it's his own interpretation;D I think it's more difficult 2 always stay on voice

  • @lastofthemohicans

You know l also think the same. Both great but Jussi legato is unbelievable.l should upload some of Victoria de los Angeles, she also have a marvelous legato and l teach as they sing, legato, legato every word to the next...fiato, fiato ,and expression.

  • TY joana for posting this gem.

  • Thank you for posting. This is as good as Tauber's version; two great singers!!

  • He takes you on the nicest journey - and brings you safely home.

WE CAN LISTEN often this marvellous voice without getting accustoming.

  • @barytontaine la meme chose passe avec Björling

  • lieblingsversion!

  • another voice, that is emotional, not only technique, but the heart first of all.

    A ver Adelaide.. otra joya

    Gracias richiego

¡bravi Schubert y Wunderlich!

  • La perfection . Grâces vous soient rendues Monsieur Wunderlich ....

Merci Madame pour le post .

    Amitiés .

    Françoise

  • Wunderlich/Giesen have prooven to be unbeatable for ages! So far, I have heard no recording which is better than that!

  • Wow - I love it - thank YOU :-)

  • This was my first Schubert song, and I fell in love with the German Lieder, all of them, after that...I'm singing An die Musik right now, and I'm wanting to do Der Doppelganger soon as well...

  • ir's really one of the best, an die Musik, also and many more

  • @joanabanyeres I agree completely...I love the German repertoire in general, but this one and An die Musik stand out as my favorites...but then again, those are the only 2 I've done...lol

  • This is my favorite Schubert lieder.

  • There are many more....

  • Softly through the moonlit night --

I sing to you, my love...

As I wait to hear your footsteps --

    To the silent grove...

    In the moonlight, swaying treetops,

    Whispering breezes blow.

Have no fear of harsh intruders --

    Here I'll hold you close.

  • Hear the nightingales a-calling

    Through the leaves above...

    Silvery music over the garden

    For the one I love...

  • How they know the tender burning

    Of my heart so true

Crying for the pain of yearning,

    All my love for you.

  • Calling you to love and passion,

    Nightingales implore.

Trembling now my arms are open...

    For you who I adore.

  • The warmth of the voice caresses the beauty of the song.

  • every time I hear Wunderlich he takes me to another world and I start to float away.

so beautifull. thank god that most of his recordings are on you tube so i can float away every day !!!

  • BEAUTIFUL voice!!!!!!!!!!!

    einherzundeineseele/almebo

  • Richtig! Allerdings arbeite ich dran! Man wird bald von mir hoeren.

    Frankie

  • Now I know the true meaning of Nectar as listening to the purity of his voice is 100%

  • uncomparable singer + ingenious composer = timeless song!

  • my god! I am shocked every time i hear this man sing. I cannot believe believe how lovely it is!

Danke, Schubert, danke, Wunderlich.

  • Tritz Wunderlich war ein WUNDER. Und er hat uns wahrlich beglueckt.

  • @voce29 Wunderbar

  • Don't be so harsh with Fisher- Diskau. May be the voice is not the most beautiful voice but he sang well, very well.

Tauber was magnificent in Schubert and Schmidt with his peculiar Jewish beautiful voice was unic.

  • That's a very fair comment. This is a tenor song and Fischer Dieskau is not a tenor. Schmidt's version is stunning, he just seems to reach notes no one else does. Fritz is wonderful, though.

  • The voice of Smidt was very peculiar. His voice has what we say in voice, harmonic resonance , some tenors or sopranos have, they seem to sing higher, but not, some singers seem to sing lower for the same, it happens with big voices as some tenors have, the high notes are the same Burt seems higher.

    Interesting your comment.

  • @joanabanyeres What is a Jewish voice?

  • This totally kicks Fischer Dieskau's ass. Stunning. Check Tauber and Schmidt's for other great renditions.

  • This is so beautiful that it can make me cry. I have always found Wunderlich's voice and interpretation truly addictive.

  • ed un immenso cantante.

  • una delle più belle voci della lirica

  • This is a superb rendition of this wonderful Schubert piece.Che bellissima voce.Bravo Fritz!

  • His voice is so heartbreakingly beautiful....

  • Look for Beethoven, Adelaide. You will adore him.

  • I already do. :-D I've been watching footage and documentary about him on Netflix, too.

  • Fritz sos mi idolo

  • Wunderbar - DANKE!!!!

  • the most beautiful rendition of Schibert's Ständchen!!!

    wundervoll,maestro wunderlich!!!

    Inolvidable!!!(Thanks,Natascha!!!)

    Nina

  • yes....my dear...agree

  • Beautifully sung, thanks for introducing me to this fantastic singer.

Best version of Staendchen on youtube.

Fabelhaft!

  • bitte nicht mit Andrea Bocelli vergleichen....

  • Bocelli cannot compare. Fritz is far superior.
