Do you have any tips or advice for applying to naturally curled lashes?

Mine are thin and short so I want to wear false lashes, but my natural ones curl almost all the way back to my eyelid and get completely in the way when trying to apply fakes even when looking down. And they also try to pop/push the false lash off as well if I'm able to get them on.
