  • Buy a good PC And throw your Xbox or PS3 in the bin.

  • Great idea on the ads, I wouldn't mind seeing a ad somewhere off in the corner of the screen.

  • Play on pc then....

  • Whalemasher what you want is Halo:CE for computer. It has, literally, everything youve mentioned in this vid. There are TWO things it DOES NOT have. 1. Ads, because there is no "40 sec lobby," or otherwise time delay. You go on multiplayer, and then search for the game you want to play and join. 2. Ranking. There is no stats, or ranking, or leveling in the game. So when you join, you have no idea who your playing with, but 9/10 its a fun close game.

Oh, and no host advantage. Try it man.

  • I am always amazed at the crap you xbox people have to take. PC already has ALL of those good things Whalemasher mentioned.

  • No matter how much you're gonna want this, it'll just get shot down unless the company is going to make millions without any effort put in by them (like those MW2 map packs, millions bought, and no joy in playing them)

  • exactly what you said.

  • I could deal with a little dumb ad for better hit detection

  • they can run the ad in the corner....

and to adjust the server, you should probably do it from a pc and not on consoles.

overall, your idea sounds closest to what halo has done.

  • Your basically saying that you want counter-strike servers on a big franchises..... I like it :) even though i play PC :D

  • everything that is described in this vid = pc

    :3

  • @saffaboy2007 Let's see what I did. Joined late, so no first capture. 0:42 I was trying to get to B but got distracted trying to keep it safe. 2:28 Died trying to cap. 2:48 Left because 2 teammates were there and I knew they were safe cuz of the sr71. 3:45 three team members on it so I kept B window safe. 43 kills that brought two or three black birds for the team, multiple Spy Planes. Eight defends. Have a good day, sir. :)

  • @saffaboy2007 dude ya got owned!

  • It sounds too much like Halo.

  • Good idea, but i think that it would be way too complicated to make such a system for console gaming. If you can modify a PC game to your willings, its because PC's haven't been made only for gaming, wich allows them to multitask, change the source code, download and upload direcly into the internet. We would need a new generation of consoles to make your ideas possible.

  • someone send this to Dr. Dis Respect!!!!

  • best idea ever on the ads

  • is bfbc2 on dedicated server

  • i fucking love this idea !

  • The amount of customization you want is ridiculous, not gonna happen to such an extent. Though it would be very nice.

However if MW3 doesn't have dedicated servers (Free, no ads) I probably won't buy it.

  • i hate to sound like a fanboy, but all source games are run on dedi servers...

  • I think well have to wait until the next gen consoles release. Both the 360 and the PS3 looked like they used their full potentials all the way from the start. Notice for example that CoD4 has about the same graphics as Blops or the amazing graphics from Metalgearsolid4 they just ad customization and stuff like that, theres nothing really new any more.

  • because i play on pc, i usualy create servers with the rules: no grenade launchers, no 74u, so second chance and no blistic kinfers

  • the dedicated servers are an advantage for pc

  • Great ideas!

But, i think paying for it would have to come into place so there isn't a Bajilion Games on at 1 time.

  • did anyone hear the iphone ringing at 1:37?:D

  • dedicated servers yes, indivual mods No. \When i want to jump on and play I dont want to have to wade through or search lobbys to play a game.

  • so you are basically talking about mods. but the 'I pay 10 bucks a month for my own server' Idea isn't realistic... on PC you can rent servers but they cost way more

  • On top of the bad P2P system. Hit detection fail in blops is Treyarchs doing. Their net coding and "latency compensation" is one of, if not, the main culprit here.

  • Also, the custom game settings you mentioned do not come natively. i.e zombie mode, no back stabs ect. That cool stuff was purely created from talented individuals in the PC gaming community that created each modded skin, texture, and coding. Don't get me wrong, the idea that currently exists on pc would be awesome on consoles. It's a huge extra step for Devs i to include. an example is Dice isn't shipping with mod tools anymore for PC due to the complication of their new engine(GI Article).

  • Hey Whalemasher you tapped into the golden age of online pc gaming. BF2, CS, Pre Cod series(before MW2) just to name a few. All great games from major developers/publishers but they never supplied the dedicated servers them selves, we the gamers had to go out and pay for them as well as maintain and govern them. It's a pipe dream for consoles, sadly. P2P was the easiest and cheapest way to go and it works(most times) without the complications that M$/Sony would have to deal($) with.

  • favorite the hell out of this video guys......get it noticed!

  • Halo uses p2p, but its netcode is actually amazing. P2p works fine, its just bad netcode in Call of Duty.

Bad Company 2 uses dedicated servers, and they are excellent!

As far as the custom options, you basically listed Halo Reach stuff, but without a custom game search function.

The improvements are all good, but I doubt that Activision is willing to give Treyarch enough extra time to make all those improvements.

  • I like the idea, but with the dedicated servers that would probably cost activision 10s of millions of dollars to host millions of people. It would be too much taken out of their profits, but the idea of advertisments might change their mind. I like your ideas whalemasher.

  • YOu guys are quick at flagging spam! lol

  • Just going to throw this out here, I play a PC game called Heroes Of Newerth. It's a $30 flat fee with no monthly charge, and it has dedicated servers...hundreds of them supporting 40,000 players.

Black Ops has no reason NOT to have dedicated servers. A $60 game and they can't afford Dedicated Servers? UGH!

  • Bad Company 2 had dedicated servers for consoles, but none in Australia. I doubt Activision would be as generous.

But yeah, matchmaking is the worst thing to happen to console gaming.

  • Dedicated Servers = Yes

    Custom shit = No

  • Pc is always 3 steps ahead of consoles. I have black ops for both pc and ps3

  • There should be some sort of feature where the game checks to see if you're aimed down sight and/or not moving for an extended period of time. If you are, the game should give you a 10 second warning to move from your position, otherwise you die. I don't know how long the game should allow you to remain rooted in one spot, but it would definitely help with annoying campers.

  • i think you have some great ideas. I think for me, dedicated servers made cod 2 (on the pc) the most enjoyable cod game ever because of its diverse lobbies.

  • wow... you have some amazing ideas

  • This Is why pc - console *^_^ and it cost 40 a month to keep a server up

  • u got sum good ideas

  • I'd set up a mw2 Sniper lobby where the only option is intervention with maybe akimbo usp's as secondary. I hate when you ask the people in your lobby to snipe and they agree but then use an M21 EBR with their modded controller --- so annoying

  • @RockAndRoll5157 Invite me Ill use a Marathon Lightweight UMP. By the way I took pride in crashing Cod4 Sniper Lobbies

  • this is exactly why i loved halo 3

  • NO on the advertisements. I pay 60 fucking dollars to play a game, NOT watch advertisements. i agree with you but that is not a good idea

  • @SWGuruu I'd not like the ads either, but if it gets me dedicated servers i could deal with ads that are not intrusive or forcing me to listen to them. We have to sit in that pre game lobby anyway, we would just block them out after a couple games like any other ad.

  • @WhaleMasher dude thats a seriously good idea

  • doesnt bfbc2 have dedicated console servers that are free?

  • @NewZealandGamer BC2 on the console is hosted on dedicated servers but they aren't customizable. The PC servers are though.

  • I love the idea, but the ad's i wouldn't be so hot about. To buy a game and still have to deal with ads, i would go fucking insane. Its cool with youtube and other stuff thats FREE, but when you pay for something you kinda expect no intrusive ads. Just a though.

  • also, all of that stuff you're talking about, customization is all available on the PC lol. at least it should be.

  • I think the biggest plus from this for the developer is that it would eliminate the need for patches and updates. Big time/money saver.

  • pc is da best

  • @WhaleMasher sorry not gonna fav a video if i agree, lol.

  • @mattsoini Just let's more people see it man, so if you agree and would like more people to see this, fav it. That's all!

  • @WhaleMasher haha okay!

  • Microsoft could probably pay for this from the money they make from xbox live subscriptions. They need to realize if they got this that it would really cause them to pull ahead of Sony in sales.

  • Great idea. Ads generated from the biggest selling franchise in history could easily allow dedicated servers. As for specific lobbies and the variations, I think it's good but the boosting angle must be addressed prior to anything live.

  • The problem with that idea is that, like you said, they would have to turn off XP gain on modified servers, which would mean that not many people would be interested in playing them. The idea of custom dedicated servers worked in PC gaming before the advent of XP based leveling systems when there was no point in boosting.

  • I lag more on games with dedicated servers than P2P games.

  • Like said on reddit, I feel like they are creating an incomplete game that they know they can fix with future patches

  • Ps. The lack of dedicated servers is the only reason why there are hacked lobbies.

Another note, I'd much rather be sold a game that was multiplayer only. This doesn't need to cost the user more money, plus it allows the devs to spend more money and time in creating a better multiplayer experience. There is a reason people still play counterstike after 10+ years.

  • PC MASTER RACE

  • Create a Facebook and spam the black ops fan page with this video. I agree on thought about a what u want lobby. I would do a valkerie rocket war if there war if there was a create a lobby system.

  • id like to make black ops more like mw2 in that killstreaks stack, add stopping power to the same tier as ghost and actually make ghost change ur play style(no SP = kill slower) and basically make it faster paced. dont get me wrong i def enjoy black ops, but sometimes the entire enemy team has ghost and theres nothing u can do about it.

  • you could do that in killzone 2. killzone has never lagged on me.

  • you could do that in killzone 2

  • i would make it so that if some1 tried to sit in a corner, there would be a 3 second timer, and when that timer goes off the player explodes.

  • Good stuff bro! If there were dedicated servers, it would completely turn the gaming world around

  • My thoughts exactly
