The way i read it Dingell was talking about controlling his people, i.e. the Democrats to vote for the bill. Even if he meant controlling the behavior of the population - so what else is new? My point of view is different. Any "leader" that emerges now will be taken down quickly, as the government is keeping an eye out just for that. No smart person is going to come forward now. So waiting for this person might be a bad idea.

However, after the SHTF, it will be a different story. But I see thousands of small yet organized groups lead by a SNCO/NCO type of leader. And because of that, they could never take out leadership. Thankfully, we all share a common goal.
