A series of unexplained deaths strikes a rural village around the time a new family moves in. This family is a family of vampires. And some times, a few days after one of their victims is dead and buried, the victim rises a vampire themselves.

They're all traditional vampires, meaning they fear religious symbols, burn in the sunlight, must have permission to enter a residence, etc.

The first few episodes are weird, but it gets better. It's one of my favorite series. : )

T.T in all truth, I felt that the humans were bound to start killing those other humans they deemed as 'helping' the Shiki even though they had been possessed... I think humans are actually worse then shiki. At least shikis really loved each other they had more unity then humans. So I personally on side of shiki.

@ElmoEatsPockyAllNite there is barely any romance in Shiki. It mostly focuses on the story and its characters so go watch it. It's a little slow in its first few episodes but it'll get better as it progresses. :)

Make it like a shrine + burial ground kind of thing :p.

Though that wouldnt prevent humans who side with them :p

Building a shrine takes up a lot of (1) effort (what laborers will build it?), (2) huge amounts of money (cost to buy property to build on, cost of building materials, the payment of the laborers, cost to maintain property), and (3) time (6 months and up). Also, even if they use the shrine that they currently have, it would just prevent a new population of vampires but wont take care of the vampires that already risen.

This by far is one of the best anime of 2010, however i have come to realize any trailer for any show (exspesually anime) rarely do the show justice, and this is one of those trailers. Im glad I watched the show before the trailer else I probably would never had started the show and if I did I would already be starting out with a negative impression of the show which is no way to start any series.

The only down side is that since they use hulu you attomaticly get two one minute commercials, and since its on funimation you get one more on top of that, so 3 minutes worth of comercials per episode not that bad.
