  • @freethoughtmusic merci bonne ecoute . peut etre a bientot. aeternus !....

  • crassico \o/

  • ¿no estaba disponible con peor calidad de audio?

  • Blond guy looks like early David Sylvain from Japan. TeeHeeeeEEE!! XD

  • This was pretty out-there for Dublin in the early eighties.

  • great stuff!

  • great stuff!

  • I called my dog after Guggi because he's also a useless posing cunt.

  • fuck you morbidangel00 ;)

  • fuckin love them still so much named my son after gavin friday

  • Reminds me of the music of early Christian Death...Great...Gavin Friday for me was a name that always circulated somewhat out of my perifery and I never went after it. Glad I done it finally.

  • @pappyhab just like your parents were proud of your epic grammar grades.

  • KILLER stuff!! But my vote for best band ever to come out of Ireland would have to be THIN LIZZY.

  • Reminds me a lot of the rare early live versions of "Passover" by Joy Division, only if it were shouted by Johnny Rotten and sped up.

  • I had forgotten just how original they were then... Gavin was very handsome I thought, some thirty years ago. Still is...

  • Reminds me of growing up in arse hole of nowhere in Ireland ! And loving this lot :)

  • There parents must have been so proud.

  • please watch "ANDI SEX AGNG KAMIKAZE BEAUTY " very good, awful

  • certainejejncjeejzdjnfrb"dkfl,glzjhilkr

  • immer wieder !

  • This reminds me of the band EARTH CULTURE. Its cool!

  • @sexyEmma4u why do you say that on every video?

  • u2 rox

  • My uncle is pod and I can't see them ever getting back together. U2 and the virgin prunes are NOT best friends. as far as i know they don't even talk anymore

  • what thaa fuck?

  • Irish or not, this is a good band and i wanna say Fuck all youtube stupid comments, its a music, listen with your ears and shut up.

  • yeah chris,,there were, dave evans aka the edge is brothers with richard aka dik evans.dont know what he,s up to now tho .....!

  • virgin prunes and u2 are best friends,,never forget that,,bfob,,,,best friends of bono,,,,they fell in love with music,,,,the best profession here in ireland, music indusdary,,tax free!,artists which guggi from the virgin prunes whom is now an artist,,well his and my goverment is now not reckoniing artists from the tax free loop,,id say bono and the virgin prunes might just hook up together and form something true to the real irish,,,bring it on boys!!!!!! for the music and the arts alone.

  • @ursulalawless arent there brothers in the 2 bands?

  • I dig the virgin prunes but greatest Irish group ever is going a bit too far..I think stiff little fingers is the greatest as for as my generation goes..but what do I know?

  • @wheelworker1

right, it is really a matter of taste... i think it is far too far to call stiff little fingers the greatest :-) it is everyones own choice i guess. the prunes were not simply a band but a big charismatic happening of art, and THAT is what made them so unique........

  • Man these guys were awesome live!

  • Virgin Prunes forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh god, that guitttaaaarrrrrrr

  • Comment removed

  • there was some pretty scary shit long before marylin manson

  • @elborimex scary? ha ha ha

  • @elborimex shit?

  • @elborimex - ever heard of Alice Cooper?

  • @battleborn49

Alice Cooper just wants your money

  • No one can match the Prunes in originality. One of my all time favorite bands. Despite all the awful shit, I miss the '80s.

  • @morbidangel how do you manage to even put U2 in same sentence?

  • @ultratoneytrainer

Fun fact: Bono was actually part of Virgin Prunes in the very beginning.

  • @CollosusXC no he wasnt , though the edges brother was !

  • Just love the Virgin Prunes ! Have done since the 80's never get bored of them !

  • Prolly one of the most subversive acts of their time...and yes, fuck u2!!

  • too bad almost every member of the Virgin Prunes has been influenced by U2, and vice versa. Gavin Friday and Guggi are still best friends with Bono (and are actually tour consultants for U2), and Dik Evans is the brother of the Edge (David Evans). He was in U2 when they first started.

  • capolavoro!

  • Ayyyy me fascinan!!!!

    Mi banda favorita ♥

  • me mola

  • I have a mad crush on Gavin Friday and I love The Virgin Prunes!

  • muy interesante esta banda...

    no la conocía.

  • bunch of posy twats

  • Great harrowing performance! One of my favorite songs.

    BRAVO!!!

  • Darkwave a palla!

  • @psycokiller, adoro i virgin nn trovavo parole migliori di quello che ho scritto! figurati che ho ancora le musicassette xchè una volta si registrava da musicassetta a musicasetta!

  • muuuy buen ritmo el de esta rola

  • At 2:02, when Gavin grabs the mike and hits the floor... that change in tempo is what makes this song so fuckin' badass.

  • Love the histerical vocals :D

  • eeeeeeeeee MA CHE BELLA ZIOPORCOOOOOOOOO

  • @claudissima71 MAUhahHAhHAh! CONCORDO!

  • best irish groupe ever, fuck U2

  • Didn't the Edge's brother play in this band?

  • yes!

  • hm...pogues?

  • @morbidangel00 - actually, the guitarist in the Virgin Prunes and the guitarist in U2 are brothers, and owe a lot to each other. Listen to early U2, it's quite punky. But then they met Brian Eno and, if you're a hardcore punk, it all went downhill from there... but the fact is that U2 are still going and have never had a lineup change in all their 32 years, which is more than can be said for the brilliant VPs.

  • @morbidangel00 i couldn't agree more. U2 is so overrated.

  • @morbidangel00 You know at one time they all were friends, but that kinda ended when the virgins decided to throw bono a surprice for his (I think 20th ) birthday.....wrapping up his first car.....HAHAHAHA...you gotta have a sence of humour!!! LOL

  • @morbidangel00 word. U2 is painfully overrated.

  • @morbidangel00 You know that Gavin is related to Bono?

  • @morbidangel00 that's wright !!

  • @morbidangel00

well, virgin prunes and u2 are good friends, lol

  • @morbidangel00

i totally agree. gavin friday is just great.

  • @morbidangel00 Gavin was friends with Bono though.

  • @morbidangel00 yep :)

  • Comment removed

  • @morbidangel00 AMEN!!!!!!!

  • @morbidangel00 glad these jerk offs never were part of u2. WTF is this shit????

  • @ThisIzTheEdge This "shit" is 10 x better than u2.

  • @morbidangel00 oh, come on. There are many others as well!

  • @morbidangel00 who is the real brother of Edge ?

  • @morbidangel00 well said

  • @morbidangel00 The U2 members are old friends the Virgin Prunes from the the days they all belonged to the Lypton Village in the 70s. In fact one of the Virgin Prunes band members, Dick Evans, is the brother of U2's The Edge (David Evans). Gavin Friday, Guggi, Bono and The Edge got all their funny names from the days of the Lypton Village. Bono still hangs out with Gavin Friday and Guggi and they have had collaborations, remember "In the Name of the Father" and "Peter and the Wolf"? Bono & Gavin

  • @MissMael

Wow, no shit. Never would've guessed.

    I still hate U2

  • if i die... i die haha great!!!!

  • sike

  • Ireland always have the most creative bands.

  • Like?

  • oh, that's just something posers say

  • che dire meravigliosi geniali li adoroooooooooooooo

  • is the first, I'm Russian, so don't need to know your language perfectly. Secondly, I am a girl, not a man

  • Russian women are sexy.

  • where did you get information about Russian girls? you have personal experience with them or somebody told you?))

  • personal experience. :)

  • nice)) I would like to know about it more if it's not a secret))

  • I've traveled across the US and western Europe, as well as a few that immigrated to my city. Nothin too secret they're just out and about :)

  • @Odarka91 what u look like sweetie?

  • I don't compare, but express my opinion that this song can not be called a pagan, that's all

  • Did someone ask for an idiot? Got one over there...man,get a dictionary.

  • what do you even mean?

  • Wow, they have succeeded at removing the 2 millenia of struggling to become civilized.

  • my friends from school musical groups play better

  • a pagan song? in sound this is not a pagan. Absolute nonsense. listen to Russian and Ukrainian pagan and compare with IT - the difference is obvious and not in favor of this "Pagan Lovesong"

  • Pagan is roman so for country folk person, but has now come to mean anything that is not christian, these people are using the word pagan in this manner, you cant compare two very different kinds of music

  • Amazing!!!! Good band guggi and gavin friday they are friends of U2

  • I am SO glad Mute reissued their material, but I think if Gavin and Guggi changed their minds, they'd still be the darkest and most subversive band EVER.

Three Prunish Men on Rogue's Gallery prove they've never lost it. This is magnificient.

  • i would imagine these guys getting beaten often walking around dublin like this

  • doubt it, back then alot of people looked like this including myself! nobody fucked with me ever, they were too scared obviously. i wouldve beaten the shit outta anyone who dare to. i was an aggressive and very wild goth. not your typical goth you could say, even though i may have looked fem and harmless. i fucked alot of pussy and got fucked up all the time. good times man, good times!

  • @nicknasty14 cool same in plymouth from an Irish family :)

  • @LittleElfRecords hehe, wish i had a time machine!!!

  • Good grief!! Did these really come out of Dublin in the 1980's?

  • omg i love this song!!!! always have

    never, never nenanannenenennanever!

  • Love prunes. Good to irrigate the bowels

  • jesus, people! it's marvelous. i can't imagine music without virgin prunes and other bat/cave kind of band. it's art itself, some just don't get it.

  • I can remember dancing to this band's music at The Third Side in Bournemouth in the early to middle 1980's. I think Baby Turns Blue is a better song myself

  • Man. Reminds me of dancing in smoke filled goth clubs in the 90s...

  • Good memories too ...

  • haha

  • i miss bands like this.

so much fun. good memories <3

  • I love Virgin Prunes! Awesome song.

  • any recomendation on what album is best to get first?

  • 'If I Die, I Die...' is a great album to pick up.

  • DAMN, just when i thought i heard and saw all the cool shit, here comes this video! how is it that i didnt hear about this band?! heh, and i call myself "part of the scene" gosh, i wanna dance to this @ the club!!!!!!

  • Yeah, and these guys are related to U2 one is Bono's cousin and the other is the Edge's brother but I cant remember witch ones. Bono and Edge would be in this band every so often back in the early days but Im not sure if any recordings exist anymore. listen to "Baby turns blue" youll love it

  • looooooooollll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unicos definitivamente

    ME ENCANTAN

    Guggi♥

  • i've always been into goth music. i think is great, and that people now give it another meaning, a wrong one. i love this song and i love them.

  • i love goth music

  • I loved the virgin prunes!! they used to scare me.LOL! baby turns blue!! gavin friday solo cds are fantastic too!!!

  • goth at its best

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    memories ...... ouuuuuuuuu...

  • jesus died for his own sins not mine!!....goold old crass haha but its true!

  • jesus was the passover lamb sacrificed to the dinner table by his all loving father.

  • Yes a good time , more than 25 years ago !!!

    But a great pleasure .......

  • Yes. Good times, good times.

  • still one of my fave tracks of all time-happy memories, rock city nottm, england, sat night.....1984/5

  • UK Decay was also the first band to be called Gothic which it then spread to the fans and bands who were their peers.

  • Comment removed

  • my mom loved them in high school and she went to one of there concerts and they spit on her and kick her in the face haha

  • Haha! That's punk rock!

  • whatever kind of rock it is called, it is a great song.

i prefer put it among Damned, Killing Joke and even Jane's Adiction.

  • Death Rock!

  • Its early Gothic Rock on par with Christian Death and 45 Grave...The Damned only a little bit...Jane's Addiction??/ Naw..Different scene, different fans..

In those days only Goth Kids like me listened to the Virgin Prunes.

  • Christian Death and .45 grave are death-rock(a sister genre to Gothic-rock that remained largely a part of Punk.);quite similar? That is a definite though.

  • yeah but I was there...there was no term "Goth" those days..but when we look back on it id definately call it "Goth"... proto-goth music was "Death rock"! There was a lot of "Grey" in those days. I didnt personally hear the term "Goth" until maybe ..hummm..88??

  • Do you even know what you are speaking of;yes there was and there has been since the late seventies(the very period when this came about);Goth and Death-rock developed at roughly the same period in different parts of the world.Goth was British/Hibernian and Death-rock was North-American or more specifically Californian as it never really spread outside of there.brits hadn't heard the term death-rock until the days when the Batcave was huge but they always knew of Gothic-rock.

  • Yes I know what I am talking about! I was in NY around that time and I went the Batcave, and Mayray in Boston! I was there! We didnt really have set name for any of that stuff, it just was what ever it was...it was "cool" thats all! But I personally didnt hear the term "Goth" until maybe 86 or 88 and It was in a Rolling Stone Magazine and they called Peter Murphy a "Gothic Pixie" ..he had pointed shoes and ppl started showing up with those and they called them "Pixie Shoes" Im almost 40!

  • Obviously not as the batcave came about in London not NY;you being forty doesn't mean shit as you are not an elder-Goth;you were in fucking Junior-High SchoolI am friends with quite a few of the founders of Both Death-rock and Gothic-rock also by 88 death-rock was intermingling with the Gothic-rock scene since you are thirty-nine that would have you in a high-school in 86 which deems that you would not have had access to the brunt of the underground scenes when they came about.

  • Now when you say "Batcave" there were a few clubs with that name, they had one in London for a while and one in New York for a while also, we also had the Vault and CBGB's..I think even LA had one called "Bat Cave" and they werent always the actual name of the club but the name of the Club night in some instances. I mostly went to Manray and the name of the night was "Curses" and "Fetish Factory"..in Detroit we also had "City Club" and "The Shelter" ppl forget about Detroit! Remember "The Crow"?

  • So you are referring to a club-night bearing the name of the Bat-cave and not the club?CBGB's was a great club. But with The crow;that film actually kind of sucked however i will not judge a scene based on a film.

  • Well the reason the Crow was set in Detroit was because the scene was SO COOL in the 80s in Detroit! I lived there for 3 years during that time going to the Shelter and City Club! Man those were the days! Skinny Puppy hung out there during that time! I would see Cevin Key and Orge there all the time, they were living just a few miles away in Onterio Canada! The Photo inside the Sisters of Mercy album First and Last and Always where there is a sigh "Detriots finest Adult Film was taken right

  • outside of "The Majestic Theatre" another hang-out of mine! 80s Detroit was the best! Then I moved to Boston very cool there also but expensive! I we would drive to NY all the time and go to the East Village, do CBGB's and the Vault, but I remember the "Batcave" too..I think that was a special night at the Vault cant remember this was a LONG TIME ago and I would only go with friends and sometimes btw 91-97 I dont remember all NY details from that time, i didnt live there only Boston, 2 hrs away!

  • but like I said, todays scene is nothing like 80s and 90s! everything was better back then, TRUE! But in the 80s nothing was clearly labeled and defined..it just WAS what it WAS! But the 90s was more clearly defined as "Goth" or "Not Goth" and you NEVER mixed "Not Goth" with "Goth"! Goth didnt mix in the 90s scene! Many rules back then! Not now, Goth has been corrupted by metal, punk and rap! Unthinkable back then, for me it still is! Mixing goth with rap is like mixing Nazis with Jews!

  • punk i like and understand(necro punk / death rock)metal i dont like but i get it , but RAP? how the f***k is possible to mix Goth with RAP? ??? , what you go pimpin goth biatches and caping emo's with your nine while wearing make up and your colar ?

  • Its awful! You put on big baggy pants from hot topic, a beanie hat, a black t-shirt, sneakers then do karate-rap dance moves with rave glowsticks in your hands and call yourself Goth, thats how you do it! Then you walk around as if the scene cant live without you and that you know and invented everything but yet youve never heard of the Sisters of Mercy , Virgin Prunes nor Switchblade Symphony. You also then grow dreads and use the word 'Nigga'..thats how you do it! LOL

  • Big plus to Gloomshadow for exposing most of today's fake gothics who don't have a clue of their musical ancestry.

  • Thanks, the only reason they ive me "thumbs down" is because they know Im describing THEM! lol Today is the age of the "weak-assed Goth" Big pants do not equal Goth! lol

  • do yourself a favor and "label" yourself an idiot for trying to over-intellectualize music

  • chee really romantic and sweet :|

I'm not pegan but is this to make fun of pegans ? Thats rude if it is

  • Ha Ha, making fun of Pagans? Ah..NO! Its not making fun of Pagans! It seems you are not familiar with the "Gothic" subculture and its value system...also its sense of humor. If I have to explain it then you wouldnt understand it!

  • brilliant song, a straight up classic! i remember trying to play this on guitar :)

  • Great!! Long live the Prunes.

  • Ahhh, Them Prunes got me thru High School so many years ago....how did i forget their brilliance!?!....

  • great song!!

  • where have this band been all my life!?

  • Enough with the fucking genres!

  • Their music is atmospheric, well done, and doesn't let up. The style, the singing, the drumming, and everything put together stand out. We'll never hear music like this again. Costumes are great, too.

  • The Sizzler sisters!!!

  • this is not deathrock because deathrock was born in the USA..this is theatre-gothic-pOST PUNK FRom ireland and they were the only band with this beautiful disturbing live performances....

  • DEATH ROCK??

    Are you kidding me?

Bauhaus and the Prunes came out at the same time. And everyone gives the creds to Bauhaus to be the 1st. DEATH ROCK??? You need to go and read up your history a bit.

    LOL

  • Who cares, first generation goth is lumped into the same category. If someone wishes to consider Bauhaus as the start, it's their problem. However, in reply to the previous comment: No, it's not deathrock. Deathrock followed strict sounds - Think of Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend, Sex Gang Children - Etc.

To all you ickly baby bats, qq'ing over the genre shit: Goth started as an artistic movement, far before it became a club scene.

/lifequit, the lot of you. Now.

  • I was into bands like Alien sex fiend, flesh 4 lulu, sex gang children back then........and never heard the name "Deathrock" we were all ex-punks into a new sound we called goth. Sorry to dissapoint the label brigade!
