Oh my god a fucking Dinosaur holy shiiiiiiiiit what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, Oh my fucking god it's a fucking Dinosaur what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!
I love this song, I love John Williams... But for some reason, whenever he conducts this song live, he ALWAYS moves the whole thing far too fast than it should be.
@klondikemonster Indeed. It sounds very, very good! But it would be better if he took it more slowly. (maybe he's in a rush.. too much awesome songs to play) ;)
How the hell did this not get best original score? Don't get me wrong, Schindler's List was amazing, but this has to be some of the most incredible and memorable music of all time!
god jurassic park the movie of my childhood i remeber going over to my moms friends house and while they hungout and talked i would watch this in there basement and then one day she gave it to me becaus i loved it so much :D
dude they going way too fast, it is a slow quiet moving piece, but the beginning was at the right tempo, I should know because I played this piece before on Trumpet and you also couldn't here the trumpets melody around the 50th measure.
@rater178 wow... you know better than John Williams, the one who MADE the song and the one standing there orchestrating the whole thing....... lack of words to describe you...
This is not one of my favorite movies, Jurassic Park, something about it I just don't really like... but the music will always be around the TOP of my list.
I've been to an orchestra performance with John Williams directing this song. It literally feels like you are living in the movie when you hear it. You would almost expect a T-Rex come barreling through the wall at any moment.
@saron489 I definitely agree with you that John williams's themes are extremely 'hooky' if you like, and so yes in that respect they are unique. However, film composer's generally don't get much time to write the music, so it's not uncommon for them to 'borrow' material and also re-use old ideas, they simply don't have enough time to make each score unique. I'm not taking anything away from him, he's such a wonderful film composer, but it's not quite as straight forward as you might believe..
@scotthazellcomposer If you listen to Stravinksy's Rite of Spring, you will see the Jaws influence there. Holst's Planet's suite also heavily influenced a lot of his work.
after 1:23 you may recognize that the tempo is a bit fast comparing to original track, which is more emotional. When you play these sections a little fast, even if it is not that fast, in my opinion, theme loses its emotional state.
these guys played it wondefully but it isn't as effective as the original score is.
I know people have said the tempo is fine but I have played this piece within an Orchestra and there are parts of this video where the tempo is way to fast, the main theme for JP in this is way to fast it needs to be slowed down. Although saying that it is played amazingly!
Tempo is just fine. By the way, someone said that the theme is not heard during the movie, this actually incorrect, the theme is heard in its full version during the scene they see their first dinosaur, where Hammond says "Welcome to Jurassic Park", not the track with the same name on the soundtrack which is actually the end credits.
@HectorJW2007 The piano version is heard after Timmy gets electrocuted and him and his sister are eating, right before the raptors attack them in the kitchen.
Well in a you aint really correct. This version is the concert version, and aint played at all in the film. But partions is. And yes we can hear a pieace in the beginning of it when they see the dinosaures for the first time.
@HectorJW2007 Tempo is an issue, but to be honest, conducting an 80 piece orchestra, especially one with know driving rhythmical instrument, it's not a problem to sway from tempo
Bravo, RPO! Incredibly well-done (with the exception of the A-flat by the flute in the opening intro). The brass absolutely shines in the second half....bravo!
Simplemente genial.
They are playing from the Music sheets provided by Universal. Knowing the way orchestra's are, Id put money on this being the Original Speed, with it being slowed down in the Film itself. :)
yeah,. actually the original transcrips are this fast... But john williams altered the speed on it when it was in studio recordings to make it more epic..
Btw the main theme are not heard in the movie it self, but in the end titles.. as you know the version heard in the movie are welcome to the island and welcome to Jurassic Park, wich is the second part of this "medley"
Everytime I hear this theme its like I'm 13 all over again! Summer 1993 - one of the best ever!
