It can't be that professional of a mic, try sennheiser capacitors for brass recording
@danielbarley It's a USB Condenser mic so it's not really meant for brass instruments. Mainly for voice and such. It's the Audio Technica AT2020 USB.

I have the same microphone. Because your trombone is so loud, don't play directly into the mic. It should still easily pick up the sound without all of the static/distortion. Give it a try.
