There is a rubber disk that sits inside the cup..you set it up ahead of time..with a bit of coffee on top. When you're hand goes over it, you "flip" the rubber disk...the coffee is absorbed below at the botttom of the cup using paper towel. You then crush the cup so nothing (paper towel and disk) falls out.
