cont. I would say that 90% of people can understand more than 80% of what she speaks now. Normally it is just older people who have more difficulty understanding her, or when she gets going too fast! As far as hearing, she loves to be a part of so many different groups and this is definitely challenging for her to hear everything, but we teach her to use everything she has to hear... we get interp's when needed, or I interpret for her. I hope you all can just share in her joy and success!

I'm not here to argue or to make you agree with us. You need to understand that Naomi grew up in China, in an orphanage, where she received NO language training at all. At 6 years old, she had no ability to express anything other than pointing to her mouth if she wanted to eat. This played into our decision to get the CIs. more---->

You are completely wrong. You claimed that she spoke very well. More than years later, she still does not speak that well. In this video, she didn't speak clearly and I asked hearing people. Guess what? They could not understand some her words. I already met several people who had cochlear implanted and they still don't speak very clear. Cochlear implantation only works for some people. Therefore, your claim above that she spoke very clear was a false claim. Sorry, you're plainly wrong.
@aslitself She can hear mom's voice and was able to answer her mom's questions immediately. Weird, I asked my friend and he said Naomi's voice is very clear. I know some people who had cochlear implant, and it's not work for them. That's why I said some people, but that girl is working for her. I know we have different opinions, but please don't called us thinking in the box. I do support cochlear implant and made sure every children must learning ASL and talking. Like as Naomi does. :)
@Jamerica360 I guess your friends are not being honest with you. You have to face the truth that the oppression is happening everywhere. You're just denying due to your own beliefs. I never say I am against cochlear implantation. I have some good friends who have cochlear implantations themselves. My point was not about against CI. It's all about humanity should be restricted from any language, which you know in bottom of your heart that it is exist out there, but you're deny it.

How can you think I'm deny it? There is God in my bottom of my heart, and I won't deny it. I have a soul inside of me. In video, it showed that she was grasping some lipreading slowly. It's same with hearing aids and people who are hard of hearing. Don't tell me that they can talk smoothly. I know some people with cochlear implants and they couldn't even understand some words, even without any lipreading. She didn't speak clearly - don't make up!

You emailed me and led me to your video. Wow, you're embarrassing! You take and swallow their insults and hates. She's child! She knows how to be happy and is resilient! Deaf children are happy, too. Why can't I remove hearing babies' cochlear? They have no right to gamble her life and take away her spatial skills.

You and me deaf because there're missing cochlear or broken in ear, so that why they need to fix.
