A great game. Interesting fighting mechanics. Never quite understood the weird class change shrine or whatever that was though, the patch i downloaded some time ago is not complete it would seem (patch: J2e Version 97b2). Btw does anyone know if there are other more recent patches/translations for this game? Everytime I make a search I find a different one. The original site where I found the patch is gone. Strange.

This game is more like Shining Force than FE8. In fact, the release dates between the two was six days apart, with Gaiden releasing on March 14, 1992, and Shining Force releasing the 20th.

So any Force fanboys out there who say Force was the first, you're WRONG!

although the two games are in fact similar. I just recently brought Sonic Ultimate Genesis collection on the 360 and played this game and thought to myself: "Wow, this reminds me of Fire Emblem."

Later in the game, Alm can cast lightning bolts WITHOUT THE COST OF ANYTHING! However, he won't slash anymore. Celica has more potential than Alm, but some of her moves require HP. She can cast lightning bolts, fire balls and a green wheel of fire that can easily defeat dragons. She also can heal her partners. For her sword slashing, it's slow, but powerful.

Lightning bolts must be the Thunder Sword item. That always has an ATK rating of 15, but counts as a magic attack.
