Viera females are capable of mating with hume males in the game, an example that they prefer it is that mission where you have to help that love struck man in finding a viera female and the viera is trying to find her soulmate. So I'm assuming that Viera females that leave the Wood hook up with hume males to continue the species and what guy wouldn't :)?

Too be honest there is no records of Viera Females being created by The Wood and having offspring without males. Since Vieras have longevity and live for a very very long time, it's no wonder you see only Females. Female Vieras can reproduce with Hume males thus making offspring. There IS an actual mission where you have to help a Viera find her soul mate in the game and the end result is a Hume male. By interracial bredding with Hume males the Female Vieras have a better chance of surviving.

"the wood" as the Viera call it is a reference to mother nature as a sentient conscious omnipresent entity. OR "God" . The Wood is not an experience limited only to the Viera, Fran has made it obvious that Humes has long since abandoned their connection with the wood. In this scene Fran shares that her connection with this conscious omnipresent energy has been crippled. She can no longer hear the "green word".

The Wood also kinda functions like The Great Deku Tree...its basically the consciousness of the entire forest from which the rest of the forest, including the Viera, sprang....it's literally their giant unseen, omnipresent mother. It's why the Viera sit down meditating all day and stuff...they have a telepathic connection to "Her" Consciousness and call Her language "The Green Word" (that windy stuff that happened). The Wood also alerts the Viera of what's going on (monsters, intruders, gossip)

If I'm not mistaken, Fran's English voice actress(Nicole Fantl) is from Iceland. I don't know if she's using her normal voice for Fran or changing the accent slightly, but I hope that helps. =)
