Texas had talent the equal of New York or LA -but not the marketing savvy.Sahm,Joplin, the 13th Floor Elevators,Johnny & Edgar Winter,Steve Miller,Townes van Zandt,Lightnin' Hopkins,Fever Tree, the Moving Sidewalks heard the call of Haight.-Ashbury.Which explains the steady exodus, but also brought a much wider audience.& critical acclaim.
Cool cool song! songs from the 1960s and 1970s meant something. They still sound good today as it did when the original song was recorded. Right on man!
@hungryherbie the band chose the name Sir Douglas Quintet because at that time in the usa music had alot of groups from the U.K. the british invasion so they came up with the name.thank you Drohegda
@drohegda well that would make a lot of sense ....and speaking about names yours looks like a town name in Ireland Drogheda ..just a thought..cheers Herbie
One of the best songs from the sixties ... rockin' driving beat and bluesy, powerful, soulful voice ... whoah yeah what I say! I was in San Francisco in the mid-sixties when this came out and was blown away the first time I heard this song from this great Texan band relocated to SF. Reminds me of CCR's "Keep on Chooglin" and Sam the Sham's "Wooly Bully."
@sugoidessho I was just thinking the same connection with Wooly Bully, both great stomping songs..PS still can't quite figure out relevance of the title....I always heard and thought it should be "She's a Body Mover"....maybe that's what they meant but too risky for radio at the time?
Doug Sahm recorded under his own name and as a member of Sir Douglas Quintet and the Texas Tornados. This is likely his biggest hit tune but he recorded a lot of other fine stuff.
hey .. heyyy... Calvin Richards ... how r u bro... WestBrook ....lol

The beginning of this song reminds me of the Beatles' "My love don't give me presents"

Sounds a lot like "She's a woman" by the Beatles and " Too Far Out" by the Liverpool Five.
