Tokie alot of what you hear about benning wont so much apply to you. Benning is where infantry training (OSUT) happens, along with so much more! Whats your mos? I'm gonna guess 25B, have you been to meps and all that fun stuff? As far as what to do to get ready, it's really just a matter of staying in shape. Dont over do it. Visit your recruiter and ask for the litle exercise chart.

We were there a little while ago for a family member turning BLUE and my hubby took me to Sand Hill where we sat for a while.. I could see it in his eyes that it brought back a lot of memories. i actually didnt cry when i went to see him at his turning blue ceremony and graduation. i was so happy he was ocming home. but when they got their blue infantry cords pinned on by a family member they played this song. this is our song that he sings to me, talking about the chilren we want to have. made me feel to happy and proud for him. it was really emotional. it was the greatest feeling i have ever felt in my life.

Dont cry, be thankful he is at Benning and not In Iraq on a second tour. Being an ARMY wife takes a special woman.. trust me I know.. I was at Benning Oct '08 for a cousin that turned blue.. Those ceremonies are very touching.. but cry when he comes home to you. Nothing like seeing your soldier safe and sound returning home. Stay strong and god bless.

yeah timothy i was summer cycle, june-august..it was hot as fuck!!! 2 people died this cycle and yeah jay is right...drink your fucking water or die its your only 2 options. And btw if u are a heat casualty too many times (bitch about being hot and go to the doctor) they will send u home because ur obviously not fit for war. i think its 3 times..and we had to pay for our camelbacks which was bullshit lol but idk..and yeah stress cards dont exist in benning lol. Here is what I learned... if you do go to Iraq for some damn reason... God Bless. The KEY is to stay hydrated... drink water... even when you are not thirsty. Thirst is the first step to dehydration.. I live in Arizona (DRY HEAT) like Iraq.... oh, and another thing (you will thank me for this), get one of those Misty Mate portable misters (Walgreens, Walmart, etc), they help. I used it in Germany and Ft Hood. I would suggest Camelback, but if I am right, the Army issues them already.

Yeah, I live in the mojave here in California. Hydration is key to survival. Thanks for the Misty Mate tip, not even sure what those are but I'll have to keep an eye out for em. Ironically I've been to both Germany (traveling with my military father), and was born at Ft. Hood. Where did you stay in Germany may I ask? I was in Ansbach at the Katterbach Kaserne. I think it was 30 minutes out of Wurzberg if I remember correctly.

Really liked Germany as a whole, in my 3 years there I still didn't see much as I woulda liked. Though I did get my fair share of german viruses, I threw up a few times every year!
