  • @Crazyboy123232

I respect anyone who enlists, really I do. but if you want catapult shots like this. US Navy

  • Battlefield 3 anyone?? :D

  • @mattec2 yah saw it but that catshot was real fast

  • FOD in the cockpit!!!!

  • thumbs up if u thought a gun was pointing at a cats head

  • @Ma4Zda wow.

  • For all those wondering what cat means, cat shot is short for catapult shot. The jets are launched off steam drive catrapults

  • this is so cool

  • 10 dislikes?

  • Look at the monitor, screen saver eh?

  • shittin crank, i want the same ! :>

  • Gotdamn that looks violent.

  • battlefield 3 hehee

  • I find it interesting that his hand is not on the control stick during launch. Makes sense if you think about the G-forces during launch which would push his hand and control stick way back (if it were on it) placing the aircraft's control surfaces into an undesirable position for initiating a flight...

Those must be some G-forces! WOW!

  • @step4560 dude, u really don't know what ur talking about

  • @TeaSippinJoe1 He actually is totally right.

  • @TeaSippinJoe1 You're absolutely right, I have no idea. So please 'esplain it to me Lucy. Why is his hand not on the control-stick? How many G's are we talking about here?

    Thnaks

  • @step4560 do you see how much the aircraft shakes when it takes off, compare it to driving over pot holes your foot on the gas is going to shake because you can not keep it steady from the shaking. The aircraft shakes soo much so if he/she has hands the controls while its bumping theirs a chance that their hands would push the stick down when going off the deck (thus splashing the aircraft). you notice he takes control as soon as the aircraft smooths out.

  • I was catted off on the COD once and is was over in a moment. As a passenger we faced aft and leaned into our safety belt so we would not get whiplash.

  • look right to check your missiles

  • 0:05 Thumbs up if you think its epic when the guy in the yellow gives the signal for launch

  • the lights in the cockpit looks like Knight Rider! :)

  • battlefield 3 - good hunting

  • Battlefield 3 ?

  • Thumbs up if you actually thought a cat was going to get shot off of a Navy ship :D

  • 0-150 mph in 2 seconds, you'll feel that alright...lol.

  • @123backinyerface i did 0-60 in 2.2 on rita at alton towers and that hurt. how anyone can do this and then immediately take control of a 30 ton fighter jet just a few feet above sea level is beyond me. they ought to get a medal just for taking off lol.

  • wheres the cat -_-

  • @13elsyd13 ...

  • @13elsyd13 LOL you serious? XD

  • @13elsyd13 Dumbass dosnt know what a Cat is

  • @voltag3man first of all it was a joke to get thumbs up :) so think about who really is the dumbass now?

  • @13elsyd13 0_0 its right across the video @everyone why cockpits in planes why not vagina pits thats sexist lol

  • @13elsyd13 it means "cat"apult off a navy ship

  • @TheXxVIP3RxX lol i know i was just just attracting a crowd, and it worked :3

  • @13elsyd13 a "Cat Shot" is slang for coming off the aircraft carrier in a plane

  • @SGTBrian1 lol 1st thing when i was surfing youtube about cats i got to this video, 2nd is i know what it means and 3rd i wanted to attract some attention and i guess it worked and 52 people is happy :)

  • @13elsyd13 cat= catapult

  • @13elsyd13 It's an F-14 Tomcat.

  • @cxdougxw Wrong, the Tomcat has been retired. The Hornet has taken it's place. During the shot look at the pilots hands. They are on the canopy rail during the launch. This unique to the Hornet.

  • your friend is a lucky son of a bitch if he's the pilot

  • wow. so short!

  • What type of jet is this, FA-18E or F-14?

  • @KenMacMillan f-18

  • So THAT'S what that handle is for!

  • not what i expected the video to be

  • Damn That was fast! I wish we have roller coasters with a catapult like that!

  • fuck that's loud!

  • The Pilot also keeps his hands off the throttle, as the acceleration from the Cat can force the pilots hands back, throttling back the aircraft - Which is bad if you're trying to fly and not swim.

  • The pilot keeps his hand on the towel rack because any input from moving the stick while still on deck might confuse the flight control computers and make for an interesting few seconds off the cat. Although it is not strictly required, 99% of Hornet pilots use this technique.

  • I would give my left nut to do this shit you guys know that right.

  • I'm looking for the kitty cat, where is it?

  • @crzdbiker its probably a F-14 tomcat getting launched :p

  • @ddioppp More likely an FA-18 Hornet.

  • @KenMacMillan yeah but the title of the video would be explained if it was a tomcat.

  • @ddioppp Could be, or it could just mean shooting off the catapult.

  • @KenMacMillan then the grammar of the title is retarded.

  • looks easy to mean. He is holding one hand on the stick and the just on the canopy (glove probably prohibits picking the nose during take off) ;)

    (just kidding)

  • @eltoelto1 If I'm not wrong, it's actually one hand on the throttle, no hand on the stick as the launch is automated, to show that he is ready he puts the stick hand on the handle on the canopy frame. This is what I was taught in school though, and that is usually wrong I have learned...

  • @Tjita1 Ok, well must be easy anyhow, flying with one hand and even AUTOMATED ;)

(just kidding, the video looks great and nothing more then respect for these pilots. I don't have these skills nor job, although I wish I had) :)

And I guess the hand to the canopy is the best position to access the ejection seat in case of urgency, not?

  • Sweet!

  • can someone tell me why they hold with their right hand to this handle? i see them all doing it and i never understood why

  • @dimos47ki7 safety... the fighter is programmed to fly itself initially after take-off... So there is no need to take control, until after the jet leaves the deck.

  • @rxtony05 thx for the answer :)

  • @dimos47ki7 I thought it was the eject handle, just in case of a mishap on launch.

  • hahaha i watched this video because i thought you guys actually shot a cat off the carrier hahah fuckin dick move guys come on its just a cat.

  • "Cat Shot off Navy Ship"

My dog wanted to see this video. He had a totally different idea of what it would show.

  • Cool

  • The right hand monitor displays cool animations.

  • @081908009999 Its just because the displays fps doesnt match up with the cameras but it sure does look cool.

  • @081908009999

Absolutely! Honestly, I have never seen anything like that outside of science fiction movies. Look how they change colors and move around. This cannot be for SHOW- those animations must actually SAY something. This is amazing! WHAT IS THAT?!? Does anyone know how this technology works and what it's purpose is?

  • @deanthebeanmachine1 Really simple. A normal CRT television draws one line at a time from top to bottom, while this type of monitor draws the separate figures, one at a time, so it's the exact same effect as when the picture on an old thick TV gets distorted when recording it with a camcorder. To the pilot it shows as regular dials or whatever it might be used for.

  • @Tjita1 ooo good explanation, thx for the info

  • Comment removed

  • @deanthebeanmachine1 I don't know... maybe it displays the pilot's heartbeat rate, brain activity, or even stock market quotes... just maybe...

  • @081908009999 its gonna be in the next PS4

  • @081908009999 Yeah... like BMW`s system test mode! )))

  • It's Bringing An Aircraft Into The Air By Catapult, Not Shooting A Kitten Out Of A Rocket Launcher, -__-

  • Cat stands for Catapult, my little retards [:

  • rollercoasters are better than this....

  • @troskimaskaroska1 but in a rollercoaster, the ride ends and u get off.. with this u get to fly around for a couple of hours in an F18!

  • aah, oh my god, what a hard way to start!! don't think about the landing.. :)

  • easily the coolest job yet divised by man.

  • 8 people get seasick in their bathtubs.

  • Is it weird when i saw this and thought 'I see he isn't going to bother getting issued the Tan gloves to match his suit'?

  • So awesome!

  • I just GOTTA get me one of those!!

  • Most of us bitch about going to offices to work. These guys straddle fuel tanks with bombs and jet engines strapped to them and get fired off of city-sized ships by steam-powered catapults to defend their country.

Makes our daily grind seem pretty insignificant, eh?

  • @deutscherjoel It does, but if your daily grind was as exciting as this, I think you'd be glad rather than sad wouldn't you ;o)

  • you havent lived, until youve been shot off the deck !!!

  • This vid would have been better if an actual cat had been shot off a carrier.

  • damn it, i was hoping to see a cat being shot off a carrier, as in being shot with a gun lol

  • @LiLSikBoi i wonder how many PETA members clicked on this video, ready to complain, then left feeling stupid....

  • @MrWestcoast45 true, i clicked it and thought wtf is this shit i wanna see a cat get shot off a ship :P

  • the best looking office to work in ive ever seen...

  • shit it takes like 2 seconds to take off

  • Whats up with the flight display and navigation doing the flashy blinky thing?

  • Comment removed

  • peterjussi, that appears to be cancellation from a standard conflict between display frame rates and the frame rate and shutter speed on the camera. pilot saw normal displays, similar to how moving wheel spokes can look stationary or slow on film/video, but normal when live.

  • @2ndAsstJizzMopper ah of course. saw it more clearly on another video, makes sense. looks futuristic and also pretty cool though...

  • @amazingrapist the plane was on it.

  • where's the cat?

  • I hope to be there soon. I can't wait.

  • Who are the 7 queers who can't appreciate this?

  • I used to work on launch deck and recovery systems on various aircraft carriers. It was hard work overhauling catapaults. They say overhauling a aircraft carrier is second only to building the space shuttle. It awesome how something that big and heavy can float.

  • F18?

  • 0 to 160 in 2.6 seconds. that HAS to be fun!

  • Dang i was waiting for the cat to come but.....

  • theres no cat and no gun...

  • @flyingxk I feel cheated...

  • That's indeed more time economical than the take off of a 747.

  • Awesome!!!! Is this an F-18 Super Hornet??

  • I heard chuck norris is missing a sling shot.

  • thats not a cat....

  • cat = catapult :p

  • i wood be scard to do that u go 1 to 170 in 3 sec but i am going to fly for the navy

  • when you mean "cat shot" do you mean a CAT being launched from a ship?

    L

    O

  • @aval1998 watch out guys, we got a comedian here..

  • i love how the next recommended video is "someone shot my cat with an arrow"....

  • @jimmythesnagglepuss i know ita sad

  • @jimmythesnagglepuss Well isn't that a "cat shot" ??? I know, I know, horrible attemt at humor.

  • it was not even a real cat rubbish video

  • @irishowen wow ur dumb cat means catapult

  • cat is just shortened slang for Catapult. i have worked around that platform and know that. i at a different point worked aroudn different peopel tha to them Cat was shortening of catenary.

  • wow

  • thats so awesome love to feel the gs off that

  • What is that switch for? (The one he presses)

  • @Stover36 I didn't see him press any switches, but his hands are where they are to ensure the ground crew he isn't fucking around with any of the controls, and also so that he doesn't accidentally hit anything during his ungodly acceleration.

  • @Ismft Yes, I just noticed, It was the cockpit handle. xD

  • Wery large runway LOL

  • @1SFODdelta There's a catapault that gives the aircraft enough speed to lift off

  • @cokefan3 Thanks Captain Obvious!

  • @1SFODdelta It really isnt obvious... If someone were to see a line through the carrier they wouldnt think it would be a catapult

  • it's not a tomcat, it is a legacy hornet, either a c or d

  • and welcome people, to yellow journalism...fucking love how people jump here that were going to bash this video good god!

  • no its not f-14 its F/A-18

  • awesome

  • i thought a cat walked by then got sucked by jet engine and shot out into the air.

  • BADASS!!!

  • wooow..!! awesome..

  • Psychedelic light show in the displays.

  • dont worry about them viper, I know (as does anyone that is interested in aviation) what a cat shot is......and I live in New Zealand...its a fairly common universal term...dont bother justifying...great piece of vid...and yes its real....thanks for posting..

  • Thats fake man, what they can do with CGI these days...

  • @A55K1KKR sry lad but that is no fake. CGI is hard to spot but still discernable and that is a real shot. Die you look at the MFDs? they are not steady but they have the tipical wave moving over them, that is tipically with older cathode ray monitors. Then there are the heavy buffetting at the starting acceleration and ton leaving the ship. No extra overly strong vibrations. Sry lad it was real no fake.

  • I "liked" the video because I was relieved that a feline wasn't shot off of the carrier.

  • Step 1: Salute

    Step 2: Grab handle

Step 3: Scream like a little girl

    Step 4: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    Step 5: Change pants.

  • @op3l 1000 times better than a rollercoaster

  • Aww I wish It was a real cat, can never get enough of watching those dumb fucking retarded shits getting fucked around with, I wish I could find more cats to shoot around here.

  • @JackOfTradess I dunno why but I'd love to see a cat, shoot you off an aircraft carrier

  • damn think of that speed...........

  • How strong are the G-forces during the start ?

  • @CO200M Not a lot of G forces on take off. Maybe 2-3.

  • Tomkitty!!!

  • I guess this is that puppy-throwing Marine's brother. Oh wait it's not a real cat nvm.

  • it is a F-18 not en F14

  • yeah F-18 for two reasons, 1) he's wearing a USMC flight suit. 2) if you look in the center rear view mirror you can see an angled vertical stablilizer off an F-18.

  • @calicav84 the F18 is the only fighter aboard naval carriers, whether its Marines or Navy. Im a Marine Corps fighter pilot with VMFA-232. but i will say, good call. you know your flight suits. but as a heads up the color has no relevance to branch, the color if the suit is only determined upon the war zone location.

  • cat is short for catapult

  • tomcat?

  • @42turk42 No, F-18. F-14 has no MFDs.

  • i would love to be with this pilot its like in a rollercoaster

  • Looks like a bug cockpit...

  • looks like he is in a convertible jet!

  • everybody that expected to see a cat tossed off a ship CAT stands for catapult :P

  • @TheFsReview its tomcat not catapult
