Bob, I just bought your CD off iTunes and it's download now. I am SO looking forward to listening to the whole thing, the songs on youtube are just amazing. You are very talented!
That's awesome! I'm listening to it now and I'm looking forward to writing a review for you. :D
I've already referred a friend to you and advertised you on my Twitter. I definitely like what I'm hearing, and as of right now I think my favourite has to be Going on 19 (Counterpoint and Jungle Gym are up there!). :D
Going on 19 and Counterpoint? That's a pleasant surprise. Are you a Steve Reich fan at all? If you like Counterpoint, you might want to check him out.
I'm new to iTunes, so I'm not completely sure. I think they take about 30% off the top. They pay the distributor the rest, and then the distributor takes another 9% for themselves. In theory, that means I should get about 60% of whatever you pay, but I'll be surprised if it really is that much. In any case, it's way better than if there was a big record company in the food chain.
Yes. The original date for the party was June 27th, but I think that's been pushed back to July 2nd. Ian hasn't confirmed the date yet. If we can't do it by then, it'll have to wait until after Summer NAMM.
Unfortunately, you won't find it in your local record store. If you're looking for a physical copy of the CD, there are really only going to be two places to buy it - amazon . com or weaseltrap . com.
The official release date is July 1, 2009. but Amazon is accepting pre-orders now.
If you wanted to download a copy, mp3s will be available at iTunes and lots of other sites. iTunes may be slow to post it, since they handle so many new releases, but I'm hoping it won't be long.
Okay, awesome. I just listened to all the new songs off of your myspace. All are fucking brilliant. I especially like Flying Trapeze and Van Winkle's Dream. Is Junglegym going to be on this cd?
Yep. Junglegym is Track 4. Here's the whole playlist:
Van Winkle's Dream, City Rain, Hopscotch, Junglegym, The Gift, Postcard from Home, The Lost Dance, Lover's Lane, Back in the Day, Stageplay, Going on 19, Porch Potato, Flying Trapeze, Counterpoint, The New World and Rip
256kbps. It sounds really clean and crisp. I've already listened to the whole CD twice while reading and I love it! And that reminds me, I'm quite ashamed of myself for spelling write "Wright" a couple hours ago haha. Being a Literature major doesn't mean I'm immune to being sleepy...
I wish there was, but our official CD release party isn't until June 27th and that's going to be cutting it close for delivery of the CDs. Amazon and itunes won't have them until then either.
I've posted 7 of the tunes on my MySpace page if you want to check them out there. I'll also be posting some "recording session videos" here in the coming weeks.
enjoyed it 5 stars

Oh, and Hopscotch sounds even more awesome with those extra claps or snaps or whatever they are!
tuggmcgroin 2 years ago
They're hand claps. I picture Rip van Winkle trying to play hopscotch, with a crowd of children clapping along.

By the way, how do royalties from iTunes work?

Will the release party be at the new Homemade Genius building?

Hopefully the building can be close to finished by then. I'm looking forward to NAMM. You will have your capos set up, right?

Absolutely.

Thanks for the invite.

I LOVE YOU BOB! Is the itunes one going to be itunes plus?
tuggmcgroin 2 years ago
Probably. They claim that all their new music is, so that should include me. Don't know for certain yet.

Looks like it's up on iTunes today!
Hey, I'd be honored if you'd post a review.
weaseltrap 2 years ago
Hey Bob! I'm downloading BITD right now off of iTunes and will most definitely wright a review when I get the chance.
Can't wait to listen to the whole CD!
tuggmcgroin 2 years ago
You should get the iTunes Plus files. Let me know what bit rate they gave you.

My music does that to people. I'd avoid operating heavy machinery for a while, just to be safe.
Good news about the bit rate. I provided the distributor with full 24-bit 44.1KHz masters, so it ought to sound good.

Is there any way I could get one by June 1st?

Alright, my mom's birthday is the first and I thought it'd be cool to get her this. I'll still try to buy it after it's out.
dmengeler 2 years ago
Sorry, I thought it said June 1st. I wouldn't have expected to get one a month sooner.
dmengeler 2 years ago
I'm sorry too. I spaced and forgot who you were. I could've given you a CDR copy early. I still can if you want one.
weaseltrap 2 years ago
No, it's ok. I look forward to getting a finished one!
