As with any destination unwary tourists can be the victims of crime, but the perception of Colombia as dangerous, is anachronistic. In the 1980’s narcotics and political terrorism were endemic, this is not the case today. In my experience Colombia is the most geographically, culturally and experientially diverse country in the world and the people are most warm and hospitable. I recommend visiting to everyone.

The robber tried shooting my friend but my friend deflected his arm so the first two bullets went into the air, then the guy pointed the gun at me and fired two more shots but the bullets were duds. This video sugarcoats Colombia. Im living in Cali Colombia. I moved here because of the people its natural beauty and the salsa scene. Its an amazing country but its not completely safe. Im living in a good neighborhood and my roommate got mugged twice and people, especially tourists get mugged frequently. But its because they dont take certain precautions like not walking alone at night! Its beautiful and totally worth it just take precautions! hey Colombia can't be PERFECT!

@devil7849 Well, I'm Colombian sorry but I don't know too much about Bucaramanga, somebody told me it was nice and safe, though I don't know, I live in Bogotá and you must take the precuations that are normal in any big city here. (It's pretty much like London, it's cold, with tall skyscrapers etc. I guess Bucaramanga is safer since it's a smaller city. I tell you, I study German philology, so I use to speak with Germans, and other foreigners a lot, and they say everything is fine. Don't worry.

Not only is this country beautiful but the people are genuine, hard-working and friendly. Yes, Colombia has it's problems, along with every other country in the world but over-all, I believe it's a safe place. Use common sense when going to certain places.

Im living in a good neighborhood and my roommate got mugged twice and people, especially tourists get mugged frequently. But its because they dont take certain precautions like not walking alone at night! Its beautiful and totally worth it just take precautions! hey Colombia can't be PERFECT!

(It's pretty much like London, it's cold, with tall skyscrapers etc. I guess Bucaramanga is safer since it's a smaller city. I tell you, I study German philology, so I use to speak with Germans, and other foreigners a lot, and they say everything is fine. Don't worry.

I am american, born in Calfornia, and I went to Colombia on the advise of a hight school friend, and ive been all around the world and other places in South America, and BY FAR Colombia is the best country, with the BEST people! There is no better country in the world, I have even though about leaving the USA forever to live there cause I even think Colombia is better then here! God Bless Colombia FOREVER!

In fact, I stopped worrying about what people might think about us long time ago. Colombia is beautiful indeed, but what you see in the media, and cheap adds like this is not the reality.
