All those dimples added up to just a few extra drops of gas in each chamber, but that's also a few extra HP. Let's see; Michael's only wins. All Restrictor plate tracks, and all were with DEI. They were the masters of RP tracks in that period.

@46Rain2 I like Mike bunch, but he's got no natural talent, I saw him racing on Darrell's coat tails at local tracks and he damn near needed a map to find his way around a track, he was just awful. If not for Darrell he'd have never had the tiniest chance to race nascar. I'm suprised he got as good as he has, but his strong suit is his personality. His likeability is what's kept him around, and I can't wait for him to announce on a regular basis. He's done a lot with not much talent.

Granted it's a lot of luck, but it's also a lot of skill and not the kind of racing just any driver can take to. But yea I agree he was nothing special outside the plate track. It takes some kind of skill to do that, but the MW did this with a very dominant RP car after having an absolutely abysmal career. It's no surprise his wins come at tracks that are less about the driver and more about aerodynamic superiority. He's a smart owner, but he's not in the same class as Bowyer as a driver.

And we all know it. Making the chase is a more challenging accomplishment, as a driver, than winning a restrictor plate race that is overhyped.

Dale Jr may not be a CUP champion class driver, but if his career in Cup has been shit, I want a shitty career too! You'll never be as good at anything as Jr has been at Cup racing. He's not the best, but he's had several successes over the years before he peaked a few years ago.
