  • it might be very modern/ impressionistic but there's still a beat

You are really out of beat and are ignoring the full length of the rests that the song has.

  • @Revanchist8525 - thanks for your comments. I did this piece a couple of months ago for one of my grade 10 RCM exam studies and I got 5.5/6 marks on it. This was a pretty early recording of it and I have a better recording coming that I did for my preexam recital that I think is better. I find the "out-of-beat" comment somewhat puzzling. The senior examiner's comment is too long to put on here in entirety -> " ... Your attention to details in the score allowed for a very effective performance."

  • @jwabacus well hear the official recording from the RCM CD. I'm not saying that you should follow it exactly but, you quickly rush at some measures then slow down inconsistently on the next and you do this too often. It's almost as if you are trying TOO hard to bring out the many details that you completely forgot to pay attention to at least play a clear rhythm. the song does not portray a frog wandering it sounds hes running fast than slowing to catch his breath.

  • good work!!!! weird song........

  • PHEW ... almost too modern for me but enjoyed WATCHING your technique and piano prowess.

  • Modern, for sure - but I like it.

  • Quirky is the word-of-the-day - and I concur. Excellent work here.

  • Discordant & dissonant - yet strangely compelling - and, especially, watching you close up play this! Excellent musicianship is evident. Well-done!

  • Yes, quirky; that completely describes this - however, it's really, REALLY played well nonetheless!

  • Great piano gymnastics! Reading the comments here, the word "Quirky" is used and I concur; still, I liked it a lot! GREAT WORK young man!

  • Great playing gymnastics! What a QUIRKY piece! Dissonant and thought-provoking at the same time. GREAT WORK young man.

  • Zippity do da! What a FROG. What a MODERN frog. All decked out in dissonant camoflauge green. What an acrobat!

  • Phew! WHAT A FROG ... what a wandering FROG ... Wild acrobatics on the piano too. Great work there!

  • That was a splendid performance Josh! I enjoyed the dissonance a lot. These kind of pieces suit you very well. You have handled the articulation nicely. There can be more dynamic contrasts to make the piece even more interesting (Trust me, it already is! Very) My studies are unlike yours: Prelude in C# Minor and Serenade. They are much more simplistic than your studies.

  • Quirky with a capital "Q" - and modern - and dissonant - and NOT a lullaby! Still, it's somewhat compelling. Good to see your hands close-up; that was quite instructive as it really shows your musicianship. Keep up the great work.

  • hmm, I think your very talented and always like to thank you for sharing. This one though was um, interesting lol but thanks for sharing!! Hope you have a great spring break!
