wow. All these years I've seen this logo (quite possibly millions of times!) and I've never noticed what that disclaimer actually said at the bottom of the screen. Until now...
Yeah, and for a good reason: the tune sounds like it could have been composed as early as the 1970s, because of it sounding like an analog synthesizer (think Moog or ARP). That's what puts me off about this as well as the longer Home Video version from 1985.
It's not so much as scary as it's cool with the odd cheesy 80s music. I woke up with the logo's theme stuck in my head this morning for no reason. I haven't seen the actual logo in a while, so here I am.
I used to be afraid of this when I was a kid. It wasn't so much the logo that scared me, though. It was more the jingle. This logo (or something similar) used to come up after reruns of Little House On The Prairie.
This logo had many flavors: From 1989-91 there was no byline; from 1991-94 the Spelling Entertainment byline appeared; and then from 1993-96 bylines for Spelling Entertainment and Blockbuster Entertainment appeared; and lastly from 1996-99 the byline read "A Subsidiary of Spelling Entertainment Group Inc."
this logo looks almost exeactly like "Motion picture association of america"

I'll never forgive the fact this isn't in bh 90210 dvd's. it's amoung what enriched my childhood most.

Actually this particular variation is from 1989, because there is no "TM" to the bottom right of the globe logo.

I love worldvision logo!

The message on the bottom of the screen means that a charity prosecuted a syndicator in the 1970s for naming that company "Worldvision."

This can still be seen after late 80s and early 90s reruns of "It's Showtime at the Apollo". TV One doesn't really re-plaster the stuff.
It's also on the 1990 Hanna-Barbara issuance of "The Flintstones" (A Haunted House Is Not A Home)

this logo didn't seem scary to me as a kid. it just seemed out of place. I remember seeing this at the end of Terminator 2.

This logo was unexpectedly left intact on one episode of "Hong Kong Phooey" on DVD, following the 1974 Hanna-Barbera logo.

I think the longer version of the Worldvision logo scares me more, even today.

When did the "Blockbuster Entertainment" logo appear? I remember seeing that in this logo.
kimsy520 5 years ago
The Blockbuster Entertainment byline appeared from 1994 to 1996.
mr3urious 5 years ago
The reason he put 1991 here is because that was when the Spelling Entertainment byline appeared in this logo.
ClassicTVFan81 5 years ago
This actually debuted in 1989, and lasted up until 1999.
mr3urious 5 years ago
Without the byline to begin with.
