Every time i do shoulders presses by shoulders hurt. And when it comes to my bench pressing day, i press less due to the pain om my shoulders. I really hate shoulder presses. Any suggestions?
Pretty good form actually. That is an Arnold Press. He could have rotated them a little further at the bottom, but overall that's how they should be done.
That would be impressive if he were actually doing an Arnold Press. He is doing a regular shoulder press and simply twisting his wrists in the process. An Arnold press is when you bring the dumbells all the down and in front of your body and twist them so the outsides of the dumbell touch eachother under your chin. Try doing that....It makes a HUGE difference. 100lb dumbell presses are not impressive....100lb arnold presses are!
chyea. imagine having to do that 100 pounds and keeping it in front of you. i can bet ronney coleman has a tough time doing that, or even more i bet, but still. Not doable by mannyyyy people. that takes some serious fuckin muscles.
amateurs probably wouldn't know about it, which is what you get ALOT of at the gym... I LOVE the Arnold Press so much b/c it focuses so much on your front delts which are incredibly hard to work unless you do front raises(which i hate) and at the same time raises strength b/c of the way you have to lift them
hmm.. it would certainly put mass on your shoulders and you would get a little width through that - however i think pull ups or hanging of a bar would widen them
It is if youre on a bulk you jealous fuck! You can't gain muscle without gaining fat unless youre on steroids. You gain and get stronger, then you cut fat for a while. shut the fuck up!
@MerkabaStar gaining fat is a side effect of bulking, but in the end the more fat you gain during a bulk the longer you're going to have to cut and the more muscle you will lose during a cut as well.
Too many people bulk incorrectly and get fat with this mentality. The goal should be to gain as little fat as you can while bulking so you don't have to cut as much.
@beamoflaser You're still going to gain fat unless you're on steroids. I didn't say you're gonna gain a ton of fat or that you should. The bottom line is you need to run a surplus and should be counting your intakes to adjust
@ChrisNogiecFitness Well unless you're a newb or havent worked out in a while you're not going to gain a sizeable amount of muscle without gaining fat. Muscle gain is optimal in a caloric rich envrionment. Is there a certification for Sports Nutrionist? People who aren't playing around will eat to maximize their muscle gain. If you want to minimize it then try to do it without gaining some fat. And how are you measuring the muscle gain? Trainer and Consultant of 15 years here.
@MerkabaStar Yes, there is a certification: CISSN, it's the top sports nutritionist certification on par with the CSCS (both of which I have). I'm also a doctoral candidate where my research is in muscle metabolism.
One can effectively gain muscle wihout gaining fat by apropriately adjusting workout and nutrition. It's not neccessary to cycle gain/cut, if someone's goal is to gain muscle wihout fat-even bodybuilders. The necessary fat gain is a myth and can be avoided.
Most impressive can't see what they mean you dont lift right. Looks really nice. Full range of motion and nothing that will harm your shoulders. Keep it up! I dunno why so many are such complainers/perfectionists at youtube..
You guys can sit here and talk shit, yet you are probably both complete pussies who cant lift so you read up to sound like you know what your talking about. Post videos of yourself lifting if you can talk shit about this dood
I think your technique is wrong as your arms are not to lock out at the top and also inside of dumbell is to be lower than outside. Just constructive critcicism if you want it.
a) Arnold himself was kinda famous for loading one side of a dumbell heavier than the other to train his holding strength. Here the grip does the same.
b) Not locking out means less time to rest in the top position, this increases the intensity while putting less strain on the joints.
And don't lock out your elbows at the top!

Both is correct:
a) Arnold himself was kinda famous for loading one side of a dumbell heavier than the other to train his holding strength. Here the grip does the same.
b) Not locking out means less time to rest in the top position, this increases the intensity while putting less strain on the joints.
