Never could understand the theory of having 2 screedmen esspecially when having topcon 5. Makes u wonder if any of them could even control the screed alone. I use the ez screed 4 from carlson its just like flying an airplane on auto pilot. Never cut off short at a tye in thats what the paver and skidsteer is for, why do it by hand. looks like the sonic tracker has been dug out of the augers as well need to keep that stuff clean.
Not a good end join .. you need to rake the rocks off and leave the fines ..and leave it about half inch to three-quater inches above the all ready paved pavement and butt it end to end .. and the rollor will do the rest of the work .. a good join you should not feel it riding over it unless the mat is very high befour you have to lift the screed
Btw...the screed is a 'float balance system"...if there is no pile the screed dips...so unless you have'A" plus rakers.....the transition is at risk,,,,
love the part where the guy gets in between the paver and truck to clean him off.....if the driver hits the wrong gear............its headstone time...thats rookie shit cmon guys....never
@juniormyrick i drive a quad every day for a liveing....i cant beleave they even clean the tail gate for the driver...but i drive for a fast pace company....i pull out and slam that gate a few times and away i go....when waitting in line to get in the paver i jump out and spray the gate and the hindges with diesel...but yes its not smart to get between the truck and paver...
I see Blaw-know finally copied the Cedarapids design rubber trak system for asphalt pavers. I wondered when the patent ran out on that one. Cedarapids Grayhound had the first direct hydraulic drive and rubber track with bogie wheel assemblies. Air cooled cummins with power tilt hood. all the goodies!
got to say, great truck driver, didnt bump the paver at all, not many that can do that, then again, must of our truck drivers are in and out in under 2 minutes when doing 130mil layers.
my current paver is a 190, and i hate it, when i have to drive, it just gives me the shits, constant hydrolic surges, constant electrical faults(pile height sensors turning off)
carson screed is ok, but still a pain.
we do on average 1300 ton of mix a day(up to 2000 on good days) with out a shuttle buggie(until top layer)
The problem with Blaw Knox's where I'm from is you can never find parts for them, but Roadtec ain't but an hour up the road. For some reason I ain't never liked a carson screed. You can't hardly twist the screw handles.
Asphalt paving is the best construction job I ever worked in, if you work for a decent paving company that trains well and pays well. Hot tar roofing would be second and house painting would be third, even though 98% of painting companies pay lowsy- they are cheapskates. MacDonalds pays more than most painting companies.
I have to disagree with you on what the best construction job is... It's Bridge Repair!!!! =P. Nothin better than runnin Jackhammers 10 hours a day and getting decent pay lol. I do like paving though, even though myself hasnt done it yet. The company I work for also does Highway Milling, Bridge Repair, Guardrail repair and installation, utility cut patching, and roadsign repair and installation.
ok not knocking the video...but when i drive up on a tie in i go realllllllllllllly slow....and looks like u didnt have enough material at the end so the screed probley dropped...but a blowknox screed it pretty lite...but looks good....i would have stayed there with the machine so the laborers could have shovled in the spot u didnt get....with do u like better blawknox cat cedar rapids or do u have other brands
who doesn't like heavy equipment doing such an incredible thing as laying a whole street in one pass. I compare it to Cool Hand Luke, the paul Newman movie where they showed 50 prisoners slinging gravel. This macine requires a driver and and several loads of asphalt. good video.
Some else commented on another video taken about the same time and thought the Blaw-Knox was one of the best machines out there. YOu can see the job it did, clean, smooth, fast and you are done. I did not have my wind cut feature on on my camera the sdr-S150. See my other videos and websites on NelsonIdeas dot C

IF you don't know that it could happen I guess they treat it as no risk. OUch. Brian

Small crew. No shovel men. Great pick up though. Nothing worse than leaving a big pile at the end.

we run ezyscreed IV iirc, and we greese the whole machine every day.
vibrators once a week, and screws twice a week
but then again, i only use the screws off a take off, and then turn on grade control :) its a god send.
