The New York Times had an article that talked about how the Gulf countries weren't helping Haiti despite the fact that Kuwait, the UAE, and Qatar sent aid. They are gulf states. I wish the Saudi Government did as well. I am happy that there was a huge effort from many countries all over the world to help. I am happy for every person saved by Turks, Israelis, Americans, Lebanese, the French etc... We need to treat each other with humanity, and Israel should save Arabs too, not demolish homes.

Considering that Israel, in proportion to it's population, is among the richest nations on earth, don't you think that money would be better spent on helping countries like Haiti?

Prune, a lot of the aid to Israel is in military aid. At any rate, my concern is with the fact that Israel even puts peace activists like that fellow Abu Rahme in jail. They expelled a Jewish editor who reported for an Arab paper. Jewish activists are beaten. Villages are destroyed by land grabs and annexation.

Israel is helping Haitians, but it is an occupier just as France was an occupier of Algeria.

Hamas didn't exist until 1978. It was even encouraged by Israel, so Hamas and the PLO could fight instead of Israel making peace. Eventually, that backfired on Israel and Hamas launched suicide bombers. Regardless of what Hamas has done, Israel has done worse and it's illegal to blockade a people, illegal to use white phosphorous in populated areas. The same Israel crippled Lebanese children by using Cluster Bombs in a way that America said not to use them. Israel does far worse to Arabs.

Yes, food enters and the situation is a little better now and malnutrition has been reduced, but the variety of food in Gaza is limited. Sanitation and medical situation is not so good. .  The seige of Gaza entails collective punishment. There are problems with what Israel is doing legally, and that's why people in many countries are upset. I am glad Israel is helping Haitians, and there are many nice Israelis, but they should see what they are doing with other children. Peace.

The situation in Gaza is much better than before. Yes, there is food in the markets. There is a black market from Egypt that's closing. There is huge unemployment and economic misery, so not everyone can afford the food out there, and the market is limited there. This is not Hamas propaganda, but what the NGOs have reported. They don't even have cement to build houses. They build houses out of mud because Israel doesn't allow cement. The situation is not dire, but it's bad.

I think Gaza is a lot better than it was, but Hamas was punished by the US because it wouldn't honor past agreements it was said, but when Netanyahu's government won't honor past agreements they blame Abbas.
