it is not that easy as they sound different from each other because of many variables(tonearm, cart, etc). There is no one turntable that caters to all music genre. I use the table that I think i can exploit its strenghts depending on the material I play. The Teres for example sounds so great on small ensemble jazz and classical.
Is the Garrard the same one featured in Stereophile magazine? I owned a Garrard years ago. Currently using a JVC with Ortofon cartridge hooked up to my Onkyo Integra preamp and amp. Nice system.
True! But the Orion's sound wonderful! To be honest, I built the Orions around 2006 and I still enjoy them from time to time. It's my SS set up during the summer where SET amps are not ideal to use. Thanks for the comment!
Thank's for the reply. I'm asking because I have a pair of 604 h mk.3's waiting to go into MLTL cabinets and driven by 2a3 mono's with a "serious stereo" attenuator. I have read that "Serious Stereo" has been pretty much destroying all comer's at the shows. You are obviously a very seasoned audiophile - have you ever considered having someone tape you as you explain your component's strengths and why you chose them? Keep the vid's coming.
Very fine sound! Which (speaker) system do you prefer - the Altec 604 (o.b.), or the Orion's? I know it's a tough question, but if you had to live with just one, which would you choose? By the way, I'm trying to talk my wife into renting one of Dr. Linkwitz cabins' North of the bay on the Pacific ocean. Those cabins are equipped Orion speakers. Thanks for the video.
Thanks! Very difficult question you're asking. I have three system set ups. The Orion plus, OB, and an Altec A7/Altec 19 clone using switchable 811/511 horns and XO's. I like them all. The Orions sound very good compared to conventional non-active speakers in terms of clarity and impact. My Altecs sound the same using SET amps. I am into building SET amps, and it can't power the Orions, so I have to find an alternative that is equal in sound but does not need high power.
Exellent Setup Amandaraer, by the way, if you had to have only one amp, one pair of speaker left, and one record player only... what would you not part away with?
Out of all of your turntable - tone arm - phono cartridge combinations, which do you like best and why? Beautiful equipment!

I am not sure as I do not read Sterophile. If it is the 301, then there are two types: Grease bearing and Oil bearing. Mine is the latter.
Thanks!

OMG - what an amazing setup you have - not only aesthetically beautiful but sonically as well
I am like less than 0000.000000001 % knowledgable about what you have there, but I can see top quality and hear it too.
I thought my Vintage Pioneer PL-530 was something special - guess I was wrong

Very difficult to answer such question. I like variety, as no one system works for all the genres of music I enjoy listening to.

Awesome set up. Great music. May i ask who this is? sounds like Ben Webster.

Sorry for my earlier post! I double checked, the artist is Houston Person and not Ben Webster.
