i saw this video over a friend's house late at night once. i enjoy old school r&b like this, and i wish it was still like this today. today's music is crap, mainly. i'm only 18, and i know how to appreciate good music like this. this is on heavy rotation on my itunes!!

You betta sang it, Meli'sa! I always say that Meli'sa Morgan and Vesta Williams come from the School of Chaka Khan: Big hair, Big voice. It's no mistake that both are former background singers of her's.
The answer is they don't try to make them. I put this song on CD ten years ago and today it resides in my Ipod along with some of her other stuff. People don't WANT to sing like this. They think its too sentimental and corny. Those of you who can see through the K West samples (and I'm not dissin Kanye he's ill fo sho). Come on home and pick up some Anita, Patti, Aretha, Angela (Bofill or Winbush), Phyllis, Stephanie...I could go on but I think you get the picture.

If you're speaking of Patti Austin, cruise the PBS website and see if they're going to air a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald. She's on there with Take 6 and let me tell you what...These kids today don't even know. :)

I'm sitting here thinking that the only one that truly comes close to this level of talent today is India Aire. But that's just my opinion. Meli'sa wrote, sang like an angel, AND played the keyboards. She did it all.

What program did you get this video from? It looks like it came from BET's Video Soul or something. Don't worry about not having the whole video. My dad taped this on New York Hot Tracks and the tape stopped after the first minute of the song. Meli'sa was wonderful!!

'80s !!!!!! She wrote it, sang it, and played keyboards(?)on it(I think - not sure about the instrument). A WONDERFUL talent! Oooh I love this SONG!
