Easy, cuz if you replace just one person, its still the same band. Take Alice in Chains for example. their singer died and then got replaced. Theyre not gonna rename the band because of it. Buckethead's playing style is alot different than slash's tho, i'll give you that.

The new guys can play the old stuff nearly spot-on, some like to find minor imperfections and say that's why they hate the 'New' GN'R. They're just ridiculous, just because your pissy Slash and Company left, doesn't give you the right to try and take anything away from the new guys. These guys had to learn completely new songs, and they play them nearly perfectly.

When you have a band that's been around for 20+ years, thier sound changes. Look how much Metallica has changed over the years. Even if GNR was the same lineup, thier sound just wouldn't be the same as it was in the 80's. Bands have to change thier sound as time goes on.....they have to adapt, or be left behind. I know that new GNR doesn't sound like the old stuff, but it's not entirely becuase of the new lineup.
