When the free kick was given to Camporeale there was 44 seconds left. How the hell is there still 26 seconds left when the goal was kicked? The clock is supposed to keep running during play, and when a player is taking a set shot.
Haha I was 11 when I was at this, and I remember absolutely cracking the shits with the umpires after the Lappin dive. there was only like 35,000 at that game but it sounded like 70,000 with how thrilling it was. unbelievable match though with Carlton that far behind then the goal after the siren.
EPIC! I was somewhere interstate during this game, either Perth or Adelaide, and we were listening to the game on the radio. at the end we had the windows down cheering and beeping our horn.. smoooooth geelong supporters!
ps. LOL at how dated the sideline advertising looks and the 'classic kent' sign ha!
i remember flipping my shit bcoz that 50m penalty was the worst i've ever seen, he got in his back in the marking contest so a free-kick or a mark should've been given but not a 50... in the context of the game the biggest blunder i've ever seen. i swore 'til i was blue in the face BUT it did make one of the greatest moments in AFL so i can forgive it... had we lost it would've been unjust and that's why we got the goal at the death!!!
One of the most exciting finishes to a match I have ever seen. The five years of sunday arvo football on channel 9, coming home from my own junior games and laying on the couch tuning in, this game is one of a few in particular which stick in my mind the most. I can still remember going mental watching the dying minutes, and I go for neither team! One of the most exciting finishes I have ever seen
My dad and i were at this game, Carlton was 26 points down and we left the ground, by the time we got outside, Carlton were 4 points behind. But we thought Carlton could have come back. I was so pissed at riccardi that night
Hahah Imagine Lindsay Thomas Taking a shot like this after the siren

Fair to say Lappin watches a fair bit of Italian soccer

i'm an american, and this game is so much better than our football. not that gridiron is bad, it's just so slow and this is so much more exciting

I remember this cause it was the first of 7 straight for the Cats, not enough to get em into the finals tho.

@JackHammer7500 Geelong were 38 points up with 12 minutes left and trailed with 26 seconds left. Truly the most outrageous quarter I have ever seen.
