Speak Of The Devil album was all Sabbath songs, right? I'm confused, this was a two night event then? So it was after R. Rhodes died then? I have never seen this footage, only heard the album with all the Sabbath songs. I always assumed that this was before R. Rhodes came into the pic bcuz Brad Gillis was there and all they played was sabbath tunes on the album version. Well, huh...that just schooled me a bit then. Guess I'm gonna have to google it.

Oh, and yes.. Ozzy was already using "auto-tune" for all his vocals. Look deep into Ozzy's eyes and you'll see the deep sadness he was covering up. He knew he had one of the best guitarists of all time and Randy and him were best of friends.. even though believe it or not Randy went on record and was already projecting leaving the band in the near future to do nothing but learn how to play more classical types of music. This was local news here in L.A. - we all were aware of it.

This video is from Irvine Meadows, CA. - just weeks after Randy died - it was still the second leg of the Diary Tour.. I WAS THERE - this was supposed to be filmed with Randy.. Ozzy publically vowed to continue the tour and it was leaked to all of us in L.A. on KMET FM this show was being videotaped - that's why we all got tickets. It was surreal watching Brad Gilles on stage - YES Brad's playing was great.. almost too good.. we were all still numb from Randy's passing.. as was the band.

This particular show was not recorded at the Ritz in NYC, it was in fact recorded live at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine California in 1982

If you watch the end credits at the end of the video it says it right there \m/

Ozzy did the Randy Rhoads jams live on this tour but when it came down to doing the Live Speak Of The Devil album, he went with the Sabbath material instead.

@65GreenMan The reason he went with the Sabbath material instead was because he didn't want it to be in bad taste being that Randy had just passed a few months earlier.

Black Sabbath got upset over Ozzy covering their original material though since Sabbath had at the same time just released the Live Evil album.

Brad Gillis Fuckin' Rocks! He brought those Sabbath songs to another level. He tears it up. When I first heard this I was blown away. I did'nt know Brad could play like this. Simply awesome. One of my favorite live albums.

I caught some of the over dub's....pretty funny..With all so called live albums and dvd's...they record 2 or 3 night's then mix it all together..thats why you see wardrobe changes ect..sound is from night 1 and vidio is from night 3 diff city sometimes..thats almost all of them..only one I know is from 1 night is skynyrd, one more from the road..that was 1 night in 76...

@OzzBornTributeBand Brad Gillis is a supremely talented guitarist and of course he had his own style and it's not for everyone. Do you know how hard it was to do what he did? He replaced the greatest guitarist ever, which is impossible, and he actually did a good job learning all the songs. I mean, think of how many Yokels on YouTube have spent years trying to learn Randy and can't and he learned this shit in a really short amount of time.
