I graduated out of the class of 1986 and i remember this movie !! i still have it here in my closet next to my Year book..VHS and still in good condition .. i play it to bring me back in time ... it was cool back in the 80s .. imiss those days ...

@Bravo1967able I used to see the original poster for this Film in Video Shops in 1986 and the tag was "Like father , like son , like Hell !!" Looked scary as hell to me as a 12 yr old kid .

I think the movie was a close social shot about the village side of america's criminals. No moviestars, no fancy cars, no parties, only the true life. A boy who steals for some xtra money, and almost killed by his step father. Life is cruel.

The soundtrack was far greater than other movies at that time.

It's great to see so many ppl still appreciate this film and song. A mark of a great movie; even now, 20+ years later, it more than holds up. For anyone that doesn't already know, it's based on a true story of a rural crime ring complete w/ the father-son relationship portrayed in the movie.

So well cast too - even the minor characters (along with the setting) feel absolutely authentic.

Btw, Walken's also great as a tragic figure in "The Dead Zone" (don't be put off by the cheesy TV show).
