  • I'm an old Bowie fan and I wanted to hate your version, but it was good and I have to admit that you did it justice.

  • Paradise.

  • great voice, grat interepretation... perfect brian..

  • This vid is a favorite on Trinidad and Tobago

  • What a great song & energy !!!

  • Who's that guy 2:05? It looks like Jonathan Davis and Jim Root (fusion of both) xD

  • @rampses Steve hewitt (placebo drummer 1996 - 2007)

  • i like when pretty boys are not just simply handsome but are really able to do something great, something that is worth seeing and listening to. omg..

  • This is a great cover. Brian is simply playing it in his own way and putting across his take on the song, which is far better than doing a carbon copy and he plays it in A minor presumably because he feels it suits his style of the song and voice better.

I like it when musicians play songs in different ways, it highlights how versatile music really is how a song can come across so differently.

  • Ok its not as rich and intense as Bowies version but Brians voice and his absolute relish of "fat" and 'queer' make this amusing. Love the humour; his make up and the way he sings "beautiful". He is.

  • what a crap, its ok to play songs on your own tempo, but this one this fast sounds awful. he plays A minor the whole song, it's A... and why did he stop in the most electric part of the song ?? ( i kiss you, youre beautiful i want u to walk) what a bad idea !

not being prejudiced against this guy or band, just my opinion about a musical crime

  • @yonosenayo man, its a cover :) relax - he is and artist as well :) You have to admit his vocal skills :)

  • Why is he playing A minor?!?!

  • @arnoldrocksalot probably because of his voice (:

  • he has the best voice ever :)

  • I have to agree with those who said it's a great cover. i love too. every thing that Brian sings turns into gold... It's magical. Thumbs up man.

  • that's not too fast, it was the original that was too slow! lol

brian's always right, he couldn't make a mistake if he wanted to. love him to death

  • It's a cover, he changed the bpm you idiots, he isn't playing too fast

  • A cover is not supposed to be better than original ... and this is a great one :)

  • is good, but Bowie's better and he played too fast

  • o.o Brian... You're amazing.

I might be a 21 year old guy, but I'd consider leaving my Fiancée for you.

  • Brilliant,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • i love that song ! ♥

  • He plays the guitar better but Bowie sings it bigger

  • @deathano0b1 he doesnt sing or play as well as bowie it actually shows just how amazing bowie actually was he has no connection to the lyrics and its too fast.

  • better than the original version: Brian tops Bob :)

  • great cover (first time I've heard this guy)

  • pedazo de cover, dan ganas de que hubiera tocado más

  • this is sooo much better than the Bowie version

  • @st2hallock I think that Brian Molko himself would tell you to shut up and never repeat this nonsense again, lol

  • Is there a good song these bitches haven't ruined??

  • @YesImACunt You seem upset :(

  • @gustavovideo15 Nah, you do. Clearly you felt butthurt enough to respond to my comment.

  • @YesImACunt No, queen bitch I didn't. Placebo is a great band, brian has a good voice and I really liked this version, You should critize the bad covers like "Fashion" that glee sang.

  • Cómo mola el cover!!

  • one of a very very few covers that has blown away the original !!!! amazing and ive been a bowie fan all my life

  • Brian make me smile :) Love! love! love!=)))

  • Гомосек

  • Loooooove.

  • This is great!

  • i love that song, it's the reason why i wanted to learn how to play guitar =)

  • I love u Brian Molko!! <3

  • <3 love his smile

  • not bad but he doesn't put his soul into it as bowie does, sound like he's running it through quickly to get it over with

  • nowhere near the bowie version, he had some balls for even trying it tho...

  • Brian i love your smile <3

  • I'm the only one in my school who likes this music ,btw, I am 1427 years old...

thumbs up if you still listening to this in 2000 b.c.!!!!!!

  • @milical072 1427 years old.. and still in school o.O

  • @Mirrordin7 well, finishing school today is not easy when you're born in in the middle ages... :(

  • @milical072 moonage daydream bro

  • @milical072 moonage daydream bro

  • Daaaamn shit!! This really sucks... His voice and his way of singing really don't fit for a song like Five Years... The fast rhythm also ruined the song...... Garbage.

  • Brian true artist.........i love!!

  • is he a gay?

  • nice version ;)

  • I love this. I love Brian Molko. Deffinately learning this on guitar.

    This > David Bowies Original

  • @OlliJanelle999

I don't think it's better than Bowie's original, but Brian shows how a younger generation can take this song to a new level.

  • beautiful song!!!

  • This is one my favourite songs and I also like Brian, but it needs to be played a bit slow, that's my feeling. Nevertheless, its a great cover.

  • Hate his Yanky-twang Swedish phony accent.

  • Wow! Wirklich gut . Bin gerade überrascht.

  • Mr Jones must be very proud.

  • I am so in love with his lisp. It's so cute I can't even.

  • WOW, so eine GEILE Stimme!!!!!!!

  • Pare che stia cantando battisti in spiaggia...

  • amazing cover love it

  • Not to fond of the build up, but he pulls off the ending really well.

  • @Droyd21 That is how Brian does most of his covers, the aim is to have a song with not much emotion, then he just pours his own emotion into the song & therefore owning it completely. If you want go check out "Running Up that Hill" live on Henry Rollin's, watch @ 3:10 he really kicks in, blows you away! Also "Jackie" Just a keyboard & Brian's voice & the song is transformed. That's a true Artist, well to me anyway.

  • Qué asco.

  • omg... this shortie here drives me crazyyyy!!!! love love love brian

  • Brian is so cute love him s2

  • It's nice to see great artist paying homage to their influences. Sure, it's better when Bowie sang it, but that's not what this is about.

  • Bowie was better... much better.. this guy totally doesn't seem to get the song... Seu Jorge did a much better version (and in portugese).

  • @Mattysothername Totally agree, it doesn't nearly have the emotion of Bowie.

  • its really good, but i prefer bowie, im thirteen years old btw.

  • @TokioHotelRocker13 "Tokio Hotel" ??? Yeah, we can tell that you're 13.

  • @ezeqyell thats how u spell the band bitch

  • @TokioHotelRocker13 You just HAD to tell us how old you were. That's so mainstream.

  • @redrover327 u just HAD to waste our time to read ur petty little comment.

  • @TokioHotelRocker13 I'm thirteen as well. I just don't feel the need to advertise it.

  • @redrover327 i was just making a point on how even some of todays generation of teens prefer the clasics better than todays artists

  • @TokioHotelRocker13 Yeah, I get it. The same things have been posted on hundreds of other videos for classic songs.

  • @TokioHotelRocker13 I'm twelve . but what does that have to do with the music?

  • @SuperPlaceboLover it shows that there are some teens that are still out there listening to the real artists and the real music. unlike most teens who are consumed by justin bieber, lady gaga, and other today's music which is all techno crap.

  • @TokioHotelRocker13

    you're 13... and? who cares?

  • Comment removed

  • @DeadAliveWhoCares i was just making a point that there are still younger fans or bowiee and not all of todays kids are brainwashed by bad music.

  • Comment removed

  • Is it sacrilege to say I prefer this to Bowie's version?

  • @INDIANBLANKET ...no it's absolutey justified. I like placebo but this is embarrassing.

  • even better than bowie...what a man what a singer!

  • Fucking horrible.

  • technically awesome, this is a beautiful rendition.... it's only, he seems almost not to realize the words he's singing as the are no tears in his eyes *sniff*

  • @primeva1 true. He sings like if it were an happy song...and too fast. (but good, yeah)

  • Wow, the flash, huh?

  • What a fuckin nice surprise!!! Jesus! This is so good... I mean, I claim Bowie to be my (or one of my) favorite artist/band ever (and certainly The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust... is my fav album from him)... And Placebo is one of my contemporary favorite bands, and just hearing this, well... It makes me feel a certain feeling, quite special.

  • great cover! really better than the original...

brian.. my first thought in the morning, my last thought at night

  • Can someone link me the full show :) ?

  • where can I get an audio please?

  • I think I've just cummed!

  • How can someone say that he don't feel the song? This is fucking perfect. All Placebo covers are beautifull, and I'm not into covers that much. I love this intepretation.

  • in my opinion this is better than performance d.bowie !! :)

  • Perfect

  • so cool!!

  • I love this!!! :]

  • It's ok but where is the emotion and empathy or any sort of connection to the lyrics?

I'm beginning to think people born after a certain date have no soul.

Now thumb me down you heavens! Thumb me down!

  • @Mucky1little2me3

Heavens? I meant heathens of course, Freudian slip? Funny thing though, type heathen into Google and the first entry is Heathen the David Bowie album, spooky.

  • HAHAHAHA HOLY SHIT

  • "Alvin...Simon...Theodore!" This would be decent if it didn't sound like a 33RPM recording played at 45RPM...

  • Stop talking about other artists not present in any video is a big major + I-gnorance!!!

  • I love this ♥

  • This is so Whoah!!! This is an amazing interpretation!!! Brian you make feel proud i'm belgian (for once). Greetz from brussels.

  • Not a bad version but Bowie , well is the best

  • As a cover it sucks (IN MY OPINION)... I think he took the song and played it the way he felt it

  • It is a cover just sped up.

  • ok listen to this then listen to bowie no contest

  • There something amazing about this but I dunno what it is

  • Excellent

  • Pure Shite,Everyone seem to want to copy Bowie (GOD) these days.....

  • @TheBowieman .......dont post comments unless you know what you are talking about

  • @TheBowieman gtfo.

  • @TheBowieman well said.no one could ever match Bowie(the original and best)version

  • I usually dislike covers/interpretations, whatever, but I really adore this. It's beautiful.

  • @Shadowrose3820 Oh, he sucks. What a smar argumentation. Bravo.

  • @msalimon I love placebo... but "an interpretation"??? I think not...

He's playing it too fast (for my liking), but teh speed is about all that is different from the original... so it is still a great song played by another great artist....

If you want a truly inspired Placebo interpretation have a go at running up that hill...

    :)))

  • I wish he would have slowed this down a little. I understand he is making it his own but the subject matter of the song calls for it to be a slowed down song

  • Homesick....

  • When he sang " I miss you, you're beautiful" I melted like ice cream in the sun xD

  • I love his make up;)

  • he's gorgeous, I love this song)

  • I think this guy should learn the real chords of the song. For someone who loves the original song it´s quite anoying. And I don´t think this could be a part of his interpretation but he doesn´t realize. Sorry if my english it´s not very good.

  • @hormigaenemiga Totally agree with you. The chords were really bothering me too. And I would have preferred it if he slowed down a bit, but that's not really Placebo's style, I guess. Still, he did an awesome job. Nothing beats the original, though.

    Love David Bowie.

    Love Placebo.

  • what a beautiful man.

  • 0:30 let's sway, under the moonlight!

  • I miss you, you're beautiful.............

  • @666weirdfish its i kiss you, youre beautiful :)

  • @AleMayaOM I know - but I m e a n t to say "miss" :-)

  • Absolutely fabulous!!!! Please come back to The States again, Brian!

  • I would have an big headache in searching how many bands/singers Bowie has inspired througout last 45 years :)

  • it was cold and it rained so I felt like an actor

Bowie is thee man for sure!

  • Folks just put ur headphones on (loudish) and just listen to the whole of the Ziggy Stardust Album coz I guess u won't be able to turn it off once he's caught you by the short n curlies of his original version of this song which then rolls into another mindblowing track and then another, after the 1st 3 tracks u'll never be the same again lol

    have fun x x x

  • @thelulzeater Thanks for teaching me a new word in English. No irony here. I'll reflect upon my silly, annoying, childish, despicable and contemptible comment!

  • L'un me fait penser à l'autre : voix, mimique et ressenti. I love them. Molko est aussi bon que Bowie.

  • L'un me fait penser à l'autre : voix, mimique et ressenti. I love them

  • OK, that was utterly f*cking fantastic. :D

  • OMG!!! I have no words to describe it!!!! what a wonderful video!!! I want that song now!

  • A "temporary" acoustic cover? Temporary?

    How can it be temporary...

  • @Vioxlent Think they meant "contemporary"

  • I make sure i listen to this at least every month, @ 1:45 Brian is so into the song, by 1:50 it just tops perfection till the end. Makes you feel good if you let it :D

  • Bowie is better.

  • His voice just shuts everyone up and gets them to listen. Beautiful song and performance.

  • I love how he sings "People"

  • :-)))

  • ppffff, this suks.....

  • @deltamachine

    you stupid!

  • this beautiful song is the real winner, cover or interpretation, can't go wrong with 5 years

  • 122 WTF how could ppl not like this

  • @acidberry91 Because 122 people have no heart and is stone deaf. This is PURE talent at work.

  • Simply beautiful! His voice is so strong & pure.

    Perfect. <3

  • Why do they not F***ing sell this version in iTunes :(

I'm really angry about it, I'm a David bowie fan, if Placebo wants new fans, they better place this available to all.

I f someone know were i can get it, please give me directions, this cover is AWESOME

  • @fitobcnfito

If songs are'nt available to buy I usually rip the sound from youtube :)

btw Placebo is releasing a b-sides and rarites cd this spring (but I don't think this is included)

  • Ubelievable, thats all i've got to say.

  • So effortless. So pure.

    The playful melancholy is mesmerizing.

  • ...and I'm always estonished about his ability to play instruments, especially his guitar. Moreover, I heard that he should be very clever and intelligent. I dream of meeting him one day and having a small talk with him. In 2009, I visited a concert of Placebo in Leipzig and I was very happy and proud about that I could be there. I enjoyed it very much.

  • @ negatyve: Vorsicht!

    Zum Eigentlichen: Einfach nur genial.

Brian Molko's the best singer who exists.

  • wundervoll

  • Fantastic voice - he is already a pure and fab. artist <3

  • wonderful interpretation but i prefer bowie s version

  • I like this more than the original. Beautiful.

  • @jouetdudestin I would not go that far ;-)

Bowie is Bowie... but I do have to recognice, not being a Placebo fan at all (did not even know who this kid were before), this is just O.o!!!!

    I love him now :-)

  • @jouetdudestin please, do not say things like that, please...

  • *-* pero que buena voz que tiene mi Molks

  • brilliant voice, simply angelic
