Ive also gone on the line as also thinking that maybe they should come under another name.. and just come out with the new stuff. and left the old songs and only play them at tribute nights exp, but that would be like forgetting everything the guys came to be, and sort of erasing Layne, which would be the last thing we would want. I think Layne would be proud of Jerry,Mike and Sean for carring on and making music.. and keeping the Alice spirit alivexxxx

I find it hard to accept that its Alice In Chains without Layne. But we cant knock Jerry for keeping the spirit of Alice In Chains. Hes so talented and powerful writter, why should we stop that. Yes i find it hard to stomark when i hear Will sing Layne's words, and i think that maybe they should leave those so stand with the legend, as the new songs still are strong and have Alice flavour that we crave. But cant knock the guys for wanting to show people what made them the bad arses they are..

If you wanna try something real trippy, start this vid and then open up another window with the same vid. You can vary how much the backbeats (2&4) match or echo by using the pause on the 2nd vid. Try to get the 2nd vid to start just when the verse starts in the 1st. You'll get either echoey "ska" type backbeats or extra heavy psychodelicate beat with strangely textured harmonies. Or perhaps just a headache.

PersonallyI think if he hadn't overdosed, it would have probably taken until 2009 for the original AIC lineup to reunite. But he did die. Unfortunate, but the music itself still has the same feeling as the old, and to me mentally I could hear Laynes voice, through imagination. Laynes vocals, in the wake of Duvalls, but still present. Jerry Cantrel has only gotten more badass,

OK, I'll be the one to say it. I think Duvall is a stronger vocalist than Layne was. I'm a fan from the nineties days and I love most of their stuff - one of my favorite bands of all time. But I feel that BGWTB is possibly their strongest album yet, and I feel that Duvall's voice is just a better, stronger voice. Not to diminish anything Layne did. He was obviously instrumental to the AIC sound and a true original, but Duvall has a stronger tone to his voice, at least to my ears.

Not to mention, Jerry and Layne wrote lyrics almost equally. They each brought their own ideas and styles to the table, and sometimes it was Jerry who brought the greatness to a song, and others Layne. Layne sang on S/T but I still didn't enjoy it as much as ANY of the other albums or EPs. That includes BGWTB. I prefer Layne to Duvall wholeheartedly, but I ain't gonna shit on Jerry and the rest of the band for carrying on. It sounds good, & they ain't ruining the legacy. Their call, get over it.

Layne was without a fucking doubt one of the most soulful, emotional and powerful vocalists the music world has ever known. Still, he wasn't all Chains had going for them. @JamesMarini01 Dude I used to love the old school AIC vids, like the crazy claymation for "I Stay Away," those were the shit! This reminds me of the videos for "Facelift" though, and Jerry was really instrumental in their early look. I am just glad this page isn't a huge bash Duvall fest. Every one got used to AC/DC after Bon Scott, sure, it wasn't the same, but "Back in Black" is a classic and Brian Johnson's first album. I am a huge AIC fan, and miss Layne terribly, but I like their new stuff.

I'm so biased by the "new" Alice In Chains. I just wish they would have added a slight change in name. Duvall is a great vocalist and I think it's very cool that they are together to commemorate Layne but everytime I hear/watch new AIC videos I tear up cuz Layne isn't here anymore.
