@dbeatlefreak Hey dude the original could not have been in the early 60s, because on the classic Honeymooners TV shos from the 50s, Norton teaches Ralph the Huckabuck, or his version of it, but the song he plays is a recording of a woman with a thin voice, baby sounding voice. This must pre-date the version you are referencing. Anyway, the song rocks!
@robertgalbreath1 Hi Robert. Checker's original recording of the song was done in 1961 and was a #1 hit then. The version that you use here is his 1976 re-record, when he re-recorded many of his songs due to a contract dispute with Cameo-Parkway Records. All of his original recordings were out of print and unavailable at that time. The song was first recorded by Paul 'Hucklebuck' Williams in 1948 adapted from another song called 'Now's The Time' from 1945.
@7734Duke I like the Paul Williams' version, but I really enjoy the woman singing it on the classic TV show, "The Honeymooners", when Ed teaches Ralph the dance (or at least his version of it).
I LOVE THIS SONG AND DANCE!

NOT the original version. This is Chubby's mid 70's re-record. Very inferior to the original.
